Tasks with higher-reported difficulty by those who worked in LTC were as follows: personal hygiene, position change and movement, exercise and activity assistance, safety care, communication assistance, dietary assistance, environment management, daily work assistance, emergency prevention, early detection and speedy reporting, and dementia patient care. Conclusion: These findings suggest that training for care helpers of each facility type will be differentiated. Tasks and task elements reported by care helpers were modified and added to the standard textbook.

성능/효과
본 연구 결과 요양보호사 일의 난이도는 ‘배설 돕기’, ‘섭취 돕기’, ‘여가활동 돕기’, ‘질병관리 돕기’에서는 요양시설과 재가시설 간 차이가 없는 것으로 나타난 반면, 다른 일은 요양시설에서의 난이도가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다.
연구 결과 시설 종류에 따른 요양보호사의 일의 빈도는 ‘식생활 지원하기’ 임무 중 ‘식자재 구입 지원하기’와 ‘일상업무 지원하기’ 임무 중 ‘외출동행하기’, ‘일상업무 대행하기’의 경우 재가시설이 더 많았고, 그 이외의 다른 일은 요양시설에서 더 빈번하게 이루어졌다.

후속연구
요양보호사 특성과 본 연구 결과를 관련지어 본다면, 우선 요양보호사들의 대부분이 50대에 해당하는 여성으로 육체적 돌봄이 많은 요양보호 서비스를 제공하기에는 다소 어려움이 따를 수 있다고 판단된다. 결론적으로 요양보호사의 양질의 서비스 제공에 있어 근무 환경, 요양보호사 자격 및 자질, 교육 등 제반 사항이 총체적으로 고려되어야 할 것이다.
또한 우리나라의 요양보호사 제도는 학력과 나이제한이 없으며 일정 교육과정을 이수한 후 검증할 수 있는 통제기관 없이 자격증이 주어져 교육의 질 저하가 우려되면서 2010년 국가자격시험제도가 도입되었다. 그러나 향후 실무 중심의 교육운영과 직업윤리교육을 통한 요양보호사의 수준 및 서비스 질 향상을 모색할 수 있는 보완대책이 필요하다.
