표본가구 내 응답자는 만 19세 이상 가구원 전원이며 조사방법은 가구방문 면접조사이고 면접시간은 1인당 40∼60분정도이며 조사내용은 주민의 건강생활습관, 건강수준, 삶의 질, 안전의식, 의료이용, 사회경제적 상태 등 총 400문항 중 자녀의 고위험 음주유무에 유의하게 영향을 미치는 변수인 고위험 음주 부모의 음주행동, 주거행태, 저염식 여부, 영양표시 확인, 인플루엔자 예방접종, 아침 식사 후 칫솔질을 분석하였다.

본 연구는 2009년도 지역사회건강조사의 자료를 사용하였다. 지역사회건강조사의 자료 조사는 지역보건의료계획을 수립 평가하고, 조사수행체계를 표준화하여 비교가능한 지역건강통계를 목적으로 하고 있으며, 2009년도 지역사회 건강조사 원시자료 DB의 표본규모는 시·군·구당 평균 900명이며 오차의 범위는 ±3%이다.
