빈곤 노인들의 문제점은 무엇이 있는가? 대부분의 빈곤 노인들의 문제점 중에 하나는 고령, 만성질환, 경제적 어려움 등으로 식품 미보장(food insecurity)을 비롯하여 양적 및 질적 식사의 어려움, 이로 인한 건강관리에 어려움을 겪고 있는 것으로 나타났고(Margetts 등 2003; Kim & Frongillo 2007; Kim 등 2008), 이를 개선할 수 있는 제도적 방안이 여러 국가에서 수행되고 있다(Department of Health 2008; Teshima & Hirakawa 2010; Administration on Aging 2014). 국내에서도 저소득층 노인들에 대한 영양지원과 관련하여, 노인복지법 제 4조(보건복지증진의 책임)에 근거하여 결식우려 노인 무료 급식 사업을 각 지방자치단체별로 시행 중이다.
수용 태도는 무엇인가? 노인 무료급식 서비스의 효율적인 운영 및 운영 효과를 증가시키기 위해서는 수혜 대상자들의 서비스에 대한 수용 태도와 적응이 중요하다. 수용 태도라 함은 서비스를 받는 상황에 대한 개인적 반응(긍정적 또는 부정적)으로 경험에 의해 체계화된 심적, 행동적 상태로 해석될 수 있으며, 이러한 수용 태도에 따라 그 상황에 대한 적응 정도도 달라질 수 있다. 특히 노인의 경우 그간에 살아온 삶의 환경과 맥락이 서비스에 대한 수용 태도 및 적응에 관련되어 있을 것이라 예측된다.
