The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of social supports on the relationship between child-rearing burden and psychological well-being among grandmothers. Data was collected from 249 grandmothers raising preschooler grandchildren who live in Gwangju by self-reported questionnaires. The method used for data analysis was structural equation modeling analysis using SPSS 22.0 and Amos 22.0. The results of this study revealed that child-rearing burden influenced social supports of grandmothers. Social supports influenced psychological well-being of grandmothers. Child-rearing burden influenced psychological well-being of grandmothers. The structural equation modeling analysis indicated that social supports partially mediated the relationship between child-rearing burden and psychological well-being.

그러나 맞벌이 가정 영유아 손자녀 양육조모의 삶의 만족도에 사회적 지지의 매개효과를 검증한 Kim and Chung(2011)의 연구에서는 손자녀 양육에 따르는 스트레스와 삶의 만족도 관계에서 사회적 지지는 유의미한 매개효과가 나타나지 않았다. 이처럼 조모를 대상으로 사회적 지지의 매개효과를 밝힌 연구는 부족하고, 연구대상을 달리한 다수의 연구들에서 스트레스와 심리적 복지의 관계에서 사회적 지지의 매개효과가 검증되었으므로 본 연구에서는 맞벌이하는 자녀를 대신하여 손자녀를 양육하는 조모들을 대상으로 양육부담감이 심리적 복지에 미치는 관계에서 사회적 지지의 매개효과를 살펴보고자 한다.

지원양육 조부모는 성인 자녀가 1차적 양육을 하지만 부모가 취업이나 경제적인 이유로 손자녀 돌봄을 지원하는 형태를 말한다. 자료 수집은 2016년 6월 15일부터 7월 10일까지 구조화된 질문지를 이용하여 실시되었다. 배포된 300부 중 부실 기재되거나 연구대상 조건에 부합되지 않은 자료를 제외한 249부가 최종분석에 사용되었다.

이론/모형

본 연구 모형의 적합도를 판단하기 위해서 χ², χ²/df값, CFI, GFI, TLI, RMR, RMSEA을 이용하였다.
본 연구에서는 매개효과를 검증하기 위해 부분매개모형을 연구모형으로 완전매개모형을 경합모형으로 설정하였다. 부분매 개모형은 매개변인이 없는 상태에서도 종속변인에 대한 독립변 인의 효과가 유의하지만 완전 매개모형은 종속변인에 대한 독립변인의 직접효과는 유의하지 않은 상태에서 매개효과만 유의한 경우를 말한다.
사회적 지지를 평가하기 위한 도구는 Park(1985)의 사회적 지지 척도와 Shin(1997)의 자녀양육과 관련된 지원에 대한 기대 측정도구를 중심으로 재구성한 Han(2008)의 척도를 사용하였다. 지각된 사회적 지지 행위의 속성을 도구적지지, 정보적지지, 정서적지지로 나누어 측정하는 것으로 총 11문항으로 구성되어 있다.
심리적 복지는 부정적 정서인 우울과 긍정적 정서인 행복감으로 구성하였다. 우울은 The Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale(CES-D)를 수정, 보완한 Lee(2005)의우울 척도를 사용하였다. 생활전반에서 나타나는 우울과 관련된 9문항이다.

두 모형의 상대적 적합도를 비교하기 위한 χ2 감소율을 계산하면 χ2값은 약 69.520 감소하였고, 자유도는 1 감소하였으므로, 감소율은 69.520/1=69.520이었다.
또한, 양육부담감은 심리적 복지에 통계적으로 유의미한 부적 영향을 미쳐(β=-.824, p<.001), 양육 역할에 대한 부담을 적게 느낄수록 심리적 복지는 높았다.
본 연구에서 설정한 구조모형을 검증한 결과, 조모의 양육부 담감은 사회적 지지에 직접적으로 영향을 미치고 사회적 지지는 심리적 복지에 직접적인 영향을 미쳐, 조모의 양육부담감은 사회적 지지를 매개로 하여 심리적 복지에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 조부모의 양육스트레스가 낮을수록 사회적 지지가 높게 나타난 Jo(2008)의 연구와 일치하는 결과이며 어머니의 양육스트레스가 낮을수록 지각되는 사회적 지지의 수준이 높다고 한 Lim(2009)과 Lee(2005)의 연구와는 유사한 결과 이다.
본 연구의 결과를 통하여 조모의 양육부담감이 심리적 복지에 미치는 영향력에서 사회적 지지의 매개효과를 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 어머니의 양육스트레스와 심리적 안녕감의 관계에서 사회적 지지가 매개적 역할을 하는 것으로 나타난 연구들(Lee, 2005; Lee, 2007; Park, 2013; Kim, 2015)과 일치한다.
본 연구의 결과에서 양육부담감은 손자녀를 양육하는 조모의 심리적 복지에 직접적으로 가장 영향을 미치는 변인이었다. 양육부담감은 손자녀를 돌보면서 좋은 양육자로서의 확신이 없거나 두려운 경우에 커진다.
심리적 복지에 영향을 미치는 양육부담감의 직접효과가 가장 크고, 다음으로 사회적 지지가 심리적 복지에 미치는 직접효과가 큰 것으로 나타났다.
본 연구모형은 양육부담감을 독립변인으로, 심리적 복지를 종속변인으로 설정한 후 사회적 지지를 매개변 인으로 부분 및 완전 매개모형의 적합도 및 경로계수를 측정하 였다. 연구모형의 적합성 검증 결과, CFI=.991, TLI=.983, RMSEA=.040으로 전반적으로 절적한 수준의 적합도를 보여 모형을 수용하는데 무리가 없는 것으로 확인되었으나 경합모형의 적합도는 CFI=.849, TLI=.736, RMSEA=.157로 전반적으로 적합도 수용수준에 미치지 못하였다[Table 5]. 두 모형의 상대적 적합도를 비교하기 위한 χ²감소율을 계산하면 χ²값은 약 69.
520이었다. 이 값은 감소 기준치 3.84를 초과하였 으므로 경합모형에 비해 연구모형의 간명도가 유의하게 향상되 었고 따라서 연구모형이 더 적합하다고 할 수 있다.
조부모의 양육부담감, 사회적 지지, 심리적 복지의 잠재변인을 구성하는 측정변인들의 상관관계는 정보적지지와 정서적지지 간 상관계수가 .623(p<.001)으로 가장 높았고 양육부담감1과 정보적지지의 상관계수가 -.130(p<.05)로 가장 낮았다.
측정모형의 적합도 여부를 살펴 본 결과 본 측정모형의 적합도 지수는 χ²=15.402, χ²/df=1.400, CFI=.991, GFI=.983, TLI=.983, RMR=.013, RMSEA=.040으로 나타나 잠재변인의 측정모형은 적합한 것으로 판단된다.
측정변인들의 정규분포 여부를 파악하기 위해 왜도와 첨도를 살펴 본 결과, 본 연구에서 포함된 측정변인의 왜도와 첨도의 절대 값이 2이하로 나타나 정규분포를 이루고 있음을 알 수 있다[Table 2]. 조부모의 양육부담감, 사회적 지지, 심리적 복지의 잠재변인을 구성하는 측정변인들의 상관관계는 정보적지지와 정서적지지 간 상관계수가 .

	우리나라의 경우 손자녀 양육은 어떠한 원인으로 나누어지는가?	이처럼 손자녀를 양육하는 조부모의 비율이 증가하면서 영유아기 손자녀를 돌보는 조부모의 삶에 대한 사회적인 관심 또한 높아지고 있다. 우리나라의 경우 손자녀 양육은 크게 두 가지 원인으로 나누어지는데 첫째는 이혼, 사망, 가출, 별거와 같은 가족안정성의 약화로 인한 가족해체이고, 둘째는 취업한 성인자녀 부부를 돕기 위한 것이다(Lee & Han, 2008). 손자녀 양육과 관련한 국내 연구의 경우, 2000년 이전까지는 주로 가족해체나 폭력 등의 문제를 겪는 부모를 대신해 손자를 양육하는 조손가족 내 ‘대리부모’로서의 조부모 역할에 한정되었다가 2000년 이후 맞벌이를 하는 성인자녀를 대신해 손자녀를 돌보는 조부모에 대한 연구들이 상당수 이루어지고 있다(Kwon, 2015).
	조부모에게 양육자로서의 역할은 어떠한 경험이 될 수 있는가?	조부모에게 양육자로서의 역할은 연령이 높아지면서 감소하게 되는 사회활동을 손자녀 양육으로 대체하게 함으로써 삶의 무의미함 대신 삶의 만족을 느끼게 해준다(Hong, 2004). 특히, 영유아기 손자녀 양육은 부모기에 몰랐던 양육의 기쁨과 혈육에 대한 사랑, 노부부 사이의 윤활유, 부모-자식 간 연결 고리가 되어주는 긍정적인 경험이 될 수 있다(Kim, 2012). 또한 조부모는 손자녀에게 자신이 일생동안 쌓아온 지혜를 제공함으로써 자신의 삶을 되돌아 볼 수 있고, 삶의 의미를 찾게 되면서 정신 건강에 긍정적인 영향을 받게 된다(Lee, 2008). 손주를 돌보면서 자연스럽게 인생의 경험과 지혜가 대물림될 수도 있고, 노인의 정서적 고립감 문제를 근본적으로 해결할 수 있는 가족공동체 회복이라는 의미도 지닌다(Kwon, 2015). 조모들이 경험하는 손자녀 양육의 긍정적인 경험들은 노년기에 처한 어려움을 극복하는 강점으로 작용하여 조모들의 안녕감을 증진하는데 기여하기도 한다(Kim, 2011).
