요보호아동이란? 현대 한국 사회에서 가족원 간의 응집성이 약화되면서 가족 해체가 증가하고, 이로 인해 요보호 아동도 증가하고 있다. 아동복지법(제2조)에 따르면, 요보호아동이란 보호자로부터 유실, 유기, 이탈되거나 또는 보호자가 아동을 양육하기에 부적당하거나 양육할 능력이 없는 경우에 처한 18세 미만의 아동으로 규정된다. 최근 한국의 요보호 아동을 위한 복지시스템은 대규모 집단 시설보다 가정과 같은 소규모 시설로 전환되고 있으며, 특히 공동생활가정(그룹홈)에 주목하고 있다.
