With the activation of various social media, users write experiences and feelings about their place of visits through SNS, which is shared by others and affects their decision making. A number of postings are uploaded through SNS and researches on deriving meaningful information from them are being conducted. Therefore, this study suggests a formula for performing sentimental analysis on SNS text and quantifying the preferences of places. In order to perform sentimental analysis, this study utilizes the existing spatial sentiment lexicon and considers emoticon as important sentimental information reflecting the characteristics of SNS text. Based on the analysis of preferences of places proposed in this study, the preference of 36 theme parks located in Seoul was analyzed and the overall accuracy is 78.26%. This study is meaningful in that it can analyze the preferences of places using unstructured text data such as blogs, cafes, and news articles comments that users write everyday.
