The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of personal, job, and health care characteristics of firefighters on musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and job stress. This survey was participated 591 firefighters in jeonnam and Busan city. The survey consisted of 1) personal, job, and health care characteristics measurement, 2) job stress measurement (KOSS, Korean Occupational Stress Scale), 3) musculoskeletal disorders symptoms mesurement. The analysis of the data was using SAS 9.1 Ver. The statistics analysis was performed the frequency, percentage, average, and standard deviation for each survey item. The Chi square analysis was performed to analyzed the effects of personal, job, and health care characteristics on MSDs and job stress. According to the results of the study on musculoskeletal disorders symptoms, 49.6% of the subjects perceived pain related to musculoskeletal diseases. The total score for job stress was 51.6 (SD 12.9), which was the highest 50% when compared to the Korean job stress standard (male). Age, department, work experience, working type, position, and sleeping time were found to affect musculoskeletal disorders and job stress.

따라서, 본 연구의 목적은 다양한 직무의 소방공무원을 대상으로 근골격계질환과 직무스트레스의 실태를 조사하고, 소방공무원의 개인특성, 직무특성 및 건강관리 특성이 근골격계질환과 직무스트레스에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하는 것이다.
제안 방법
조사도구는 크게 1) 개인특성, 직무특성과 건강관리 특성을 파악하기 위한 자기기입식 설문지, 2) 직무스트레스 수준을 파악하기 위한 직무스트레스 측정 설문지, 3) 근골격계질환 증상조사를 위한 설문지로 구성하였다.
대상 데이터
본 연구는 전라남도와 부산광역시에서 근무하는 소방공무원을 대상으로 실시하였다. 초기 조사대상자는 650명이었으나, 조사의 성실도에 문제가 있는 59명을 제외하고 총 591명의 자료를 연구에 활용하였다.

이론/모형
개인특성, 직무특성과 건강관리 특성을 파악하는 설문지에는 연령, 결혼유무, 학력, 종교유무, 근무부서, 직위, 근무지역, 평균 출동 횟수, 근무경력, 근무시간, 근무형태, 흡연유무, 흡연량, 음주유무, 음주량, 수면시간, 운동유무, 운동량, 보유질환으로 구성하였다. 직무 스트레스 수준을 파악하기 위해서는 한국형 직무스트레스 측정도구(Korean Occupational Stress Scale; KOSS)를 사용하였으며, 모두 43 문항으로 물리 환경(3문항), 직무 요구(8문항)), 직무 자율(5문항), 관계 갈등(4문항), 직업 불안정(6문항), 조직 체계(7문항), 보상 부적절(6 문항), 직장 문화(4문항)의 총 8개의 항목으로 구성되었다9).
근골격계질환 증상조사는 한국산업안전보건공단에서 개발한 근골격계부담작업 유해요인 조사 지침 (KOSHA CODE H-30-2008) 중 근골격계질환 증상조사표를 활용하였다10). 근골격계질환 증상조사표는 과거 사고여부, 육체적 부담 정도, 가사노동시간, 신체부위 별 통증의 유무/빈도/정도/지속시간 및 증상에 대한 대 처의 항목으로 구성되었다.
성능/효과
근골격계질환 증상호소자에 대한 실태조사 결과, 조사대상자의 절반에 가까운 49.6%가 근골격계질환과 관련된 통증을 지각한다고 응답하였으며, 중간 통증 이상이 약 55%를 나타냈다. 이와 같은 연구의 결과는 국내에서 실시된 소방공무원의 근골격계질환 증상조사 연구결과들과 유사한 수치이다10,11).
결론적으로, 본 연구에서는 개인 및 직무특성이 근골격계질환과 직무스트레스에 미치는 영향을 조사하 였다. 다양한 특성들 중 연령, 부서, 근무경력, 근무형태, 직위, 수면시간에 따라 근골격계질환과 직무스트레스에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 보다 선제적으로 소방공무원들의 안전과 보건 수준을 향상시키기 위해서는 개인 및 직무특성을 고려한 맞춤형 개선 대책이 마련되어야 할 것이다.
상위 50% 이상을 나타내는 하부 영역은 직무자율, 직무자율과 관계갈등이었다. 다음으로 한국인 직무스트레스 표준치(남성) 9)와 비교하였을 때, 본 연구의 직무스트레스 총 점수는 상위 50% 이상에 해당하였다. 하부 영역별 직무스트레스 결과를 비교해 보면, 물리적 환경 영역은 상위 50% 이상의 결과를 나타냈으며, 직무요구는 상위 25% 이상의 결과를 나타냈다.
후속연구
따라서 본 연구의 결과가 지역에 대한 특성이 다소 반영되었을 수도 있다는 한계점이 있다. 따라서 추후 연구에서는 지역별 소방공무원을 대상으로 개인특성과 직무특성을 고려한 조사가 실시되어야 할 것이다.
