VAS의 단점은 무엇인가? VAS는 사용이 간편하며 이미 타당도와 신뢰도가 충분히 입증되어 있는 도구이다100). 그러나 시각 척도이기 때문에 노인이나 인지 장애 환자처럼 정확한 측정이 힘든 경우에는 NRS에 비해 반응성이 떨어지게 되고, 결과 측정 이 부정확할 수 있다는 단점이 있다. 또한 VAS나 NRS를 사용한 통증 측정에 있어서 모든 연구가 0에 해당하는 통증을 ʻ통증 없음ʼ으로 일관성 있게 표현했으나 10이나 100 에 해당하는 통증에 대한 설명은 각 연구마다 다양하게 나타났다.
