본 연구는 초등학교 고학년과 중학교 1학년을 대상으로 이들이 지각한 부모양육태도가 자아존중감에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 경기지역에 소재한 초등학교 5, 6학년과 중학교 1학년 등 220명을 대상으로 실문조사를 실시하였다. 회수된 설문지 중에서 답변이 불성실하거나 응답이 누락된 설문지 22부를 제외하고 총 188부를 최종 분석에 사용하였다. 연구대상자 아동의 일반적 특성을 알아보기 위해 기술통계를 실시하였으며, 연구대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 부모양육태도와 자아존중감의 차이를 살펴보기 위해 t-test와 일원분산분석, 상관분석과 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 일반적 배경에 다른 아동이 지각한 부모양육태도와 자아존중감의 관계에서는 아버지에 비하여 어머니의가 더 높은 관계로 나타났다. 아동의 학년에 따라서 부모양육태도, 자아존중감 간에는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 아버지의 양육태도 중 애정적 태도가 높을수록 어머니의 거부적 과잉보호적 태도가 낮게 나타나며 애정적 태도가 높아짐을 의미한다. 그리고 부모양육태도의 하위요인 중에서 애정적 태도와 과보호적 태도가 자아존중감에 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 아버지양육태도의 애정적 태도가 아동의 자아존중감에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

This study analyzes the effects of perceived parental attitude on self-esteem in elementary and junior high school students. For this purpose, a questionnaire was given to 220 students, including 5th and 6th graders in elementary schools and 7th graders in middle schools in the Gyeonggi area. A total of 188 responses to the questionnaire were analyzed after excluding 22 responses that insincere responses or missing items. Descriptive statistics were used to investigate the general characteristics of the subjects, and a t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed to examine the differences in parental attitude and self-esteem according to the general characteristics of the subjects. The results showed that there is a stronger relationship for mothers between parental attitude and self-esteem perceived by children than for fathers. There were no significant differences between parental attitude and self-esteem according to the grade of the children. Among the subfactors of parental attitude, affectionate attitude and overprotective attitude were found to have a positive effect on self-esteem. In particular, an affectionate attitude among fathers had a positive effect on the self-esteem of children.

자아존중감은 Rsenberg(1979)[30]가 개발하여 국내연구에서 사용하고 있는 ‘나는 내가 좋은 성품을 가진 사람이라고 생각한다’, ‘나는 자신이 무엇이든 할 수 있는 능력이 있다고 생각한다’, ‘나는 충분히 가치 있는 사람이라고 생각한다’ 등 6개의 개별항목을 Likert 5 Point Scale(1=전혀 그렇지 않다, 2=그렇지 않다, 3=보통이다,4=그렇다, 5=매우 그렇다)로 측정․분석하여 합산한 점수를 자아존중감으로 명명하였으며, 신뢰도는 .793으로 신뢰성이 확보되었다. 그리고 요인분석결과 요인의 적체현상은 발생하지 않은 것으로 나타났다.

성능/효과

둘째, 아버지의 양육태도는 어머니의 양육태도와 자아존중감은 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 어머니의 양육태도는 자아존중감과 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

첫째, 아동의 일반적 배경에 따른 부모양육태도와 자아존중감의 관계를 살펴본 결과, 아동의 학년에 따라서 부모양육태도, 자아존중감 간에는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이는 강지은(2018)[31]은 초등학생 고학생이 지각한 부모양육태도는 학년에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다는 결과와는 다른 결과이다.

후속연구

본 연구는 청소년이 지각한 양육태도가 자아존중감에 미치는 영향에서 부모의 양육태도는 자아존중감에 미치는 중요도를 분석하였다는 점에서 학문적 시사점이 있다. 또한 부모의 양육태도를 부와 모로 구분하여 분석하였다는 점에서 선행연구와 차별성을 두었다. 그러나 특성지역을 대상으로 하였다는 점에서 연구의 내용을 일반화하기에는 한계가 있다.

	양육에 있어 부모의 역할은 무엇인가?	부모의 양육태도는 아동의 인지적·정서적·사회적 발달에 많은 영향을 미치게 된다. 즉 부모는 가정에서 아동의 훈육과 양육에 대한 책임을 지고 양육자, 훈육자, 자아개념 발달의 촉진자, 주도성 발달의 조력자, 학습경험 제공자로서의 역할을 담당하기 때문에 그 영향력은 누구보다도 크다. 또한 Belsky[16]에 의하면 부모의 민감한 양육태도는 자녀의 정서적·사회적·지적 발달을 촉진한다고 하였다. 따라서 어머니의 역할이 아버지에 비해서 양육의 비중이 상대적으로 크기 때문에 어머니의 역할이 중요한 이유이다.
