AI-Helper

Background: Mobilization and cranio-cervical flexion exercise has been reported in reducing pain from cervical part and improving its motor function; also, has been represented that alleviate of neck pain and recover of neck muscles improve the normal gait performance. However, few studies have iden...

  • Participants were asked to walk 10 meters pathway as naturally as possible by themselves. The collected data were transmitted to the personal computer via Bluetooth and processed with dedicated software (BTS G-Studio, BTS Bioengineering SpA, Italy) to obtain the following gait parameters, gait speed and cadence. Participants were asked repeating the test twice, the first to familiarize the test, the second was measured and the results were processed.
  • Simple randomization by a third-party software like Microsoft’s Excel was made and the subjects were not able to know which group they were belonged to and which process they were in. The experimenter or evaluator also performed a double blind, a way to conduct the experiment on the assignment day on the evaluation day with a placement table in an envelope that is not visible from outside. The person receiving the first intervention received different interventions after a 2-day wash-out period, and all subjects experienced two types of interventions in this way and compared the statistics to the final data group.
  • The outcome measures for the study were patient reported pressure pain threshold (PPT) and gait parameters. These were examined during performance of the cervical mobilization and cranio-cervical flexion exercise (CCFE).
  • The experimenter or evaluator also performed a double blind, a way to conduct the experiment on the assignment day on the evaluation day with a placement table in an envelope that is not visible from outside. The person receiving the first intervention received different interventions after a 2-day wash-out period, and all subjects experienced two types of interventions in this way and compared the statistics to the final data group. Figure 3.
  • The pretreatment data of the patients’ active cervical range of motion, location of neck pain, pain outbreak on the most painful movement, and neck pain at rest were taken by an assessor.

  • Twenty volunteers with chronic neck pain were recruited from the Oriental Medical Clinic located in Gunsan City, South Korea. Participants were included if they were diagnosed with chronic neck pain without traumatic injury and with a history of neck pain ≥3 months during the last year, and a pain intensity above 3 out of 10 on numerical rating scale (NRS), with voluntary agreements.

  • 00 for Windows (SPSS, Chicago, IL). The normality distributions of the PPT, cadence, gait speed were evaluated using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Independent t-tests were used for comparing the patients’ demographic and clinical data at pretreatment between groups.
