해외에서 한복에 대한 정확한 정보 전달과 인지도가 부족하여 일어난 사례는? 그러나 해외에서 한복에 대한 정확한 정보 전달과 인지도에는 여전히 아쉬운 점이 많은 실정이다. 이탈리아 명품 브랜드 ‘불가리(Bvlgari)’는 2019년 ‘불가리의 특별한 스토리와 꿈(Bvlgari, the story, the dream)’이라는 전시에서 한복을 기모노라고 표기한 바 있다(Lee, 2019). 또 전 세계를 대상으로 국가별 전통 의상, 파티복, 댄스복 등을 판매하고 있는 미국 의류 쇼핑몰 ‘홀세일 댄스 드레스(Wholesale-dance-dress)’에서는 우리 한복을 “일본 기모노 전통 한복 유카타(Japanese Kimono traditional Hanbok dress Yukata)”라고 소개하여(Moon, 2019), 한복과 기모노를 혼동하고 있음을 알 수 있다.
