참탐구를 위한 천체 관측 교육 프로그램 설계 원리 개발

초록

천체 관측은 다양한 교육적 효과와 가치를 갖고 있음에도 불구하고 그동안 지구과학 교육의 맥락에서 수행되었던 연구는 다른 분야에 비해 상대적으로 부족하였다. 또한 실제적인 천체 관측 교육의 현장 적용을 위해 교사들을 안내해 줄 체계적인 설계 원리 개발에 관한 연구는 거의 수행되지 않았다. 이 연구에서는 초·중등 학생들의 천체 관측 교육 프로그램을 위한 설계 원리를 개발하고, 이를 바탕으로 한 프로그램을 현장에 적용하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 문헌 연구를 통해 초기 설계 원리를 도출하고, 2차례에 걸쳐 전문가 8인의 검토와 타당화 과정을 거친 후, 고등학교 교사 2명의 사용성 평가를 바탕으로 천체 관측 단계별 11개의 설계 원리와 27개의 세부 지침을 최종 개발하였다. 또한 최종 설계 원리를 적용하여 8차시로 구성된 천체 관측 교육 프로그램을 설계하고, 이를 고등학교 방과 후 수업에 적용하여 참여 학생들의 반응을 평가하였다. 이 연구 결과 개발된 천체 관측 교육 프로그램 설계 원리는 야외 관측을 비롯한 다양한 유형의 관측 활동을 포함하는 프로그램의 체계적 설계가 가능하도록 하는 준거로 활용될 수 있으리라 기대한다.
