본 연구의 목적은 20~30대의 미혼 남녀의 내현적 자기애 성향이 데이트폭력의 폭력 허용도에 미치는 영향과 비합리적 관계신념의 매개 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 이성 교제 경험이 있는 20~30대의 미혼 남녀 215명을 대상으로 주요 변수를 설문조사를 통해 측정하고 통계 분석을 실행하였다. 내현적 자기애 성향과 데이트폭력 허용도의 관계에서 비합리적 관계신념의 매개 효과를 분석하기 위해 위계적 회귀 분석을 사용하였으며 가설 검증 결과 내현적 자기애는 데이트폭력 허용도에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 내현적 자기애 성향과 데이트폭력 허용도의 사이에서 비합리적 관계신념이 완전매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 비합리적 관계신념을 매개하여서만 데이트 폭력 허용도에 영향을 미친다는 사실을 말해준다. 본 연구 결과는 폭력 허용도에 대한 비합리적 관계신념의 매개 효과를 입증함으로써 데이트폭력을 예방할 수 있는 상담과 교육 프로그램의 개발에 기여할 수 있는 자료라는 점에서 시사성을 담고 있다.
