본 논문은 찰 서비스는 국민들의 삶과 직접적인 연관이 있다는 점에서 경찰 부패를 통제하는 문제가 매우 중요하다. 이를 위해 경찰부패로 가는 구조적 관계 연구가 선행되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 경찰부패 요인을 개인적 요인, 조직문화적 요인, 법제도적 요인으로 분류하여 경찰공무원의 직업정체성과 조직시민행동을 매개로 경찰부패에 미치는 관계를 분석하였다. 이에 일반시민을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 구조방정식 모형을 적용해 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 경찰부패요인 중 조직문화적 요인과 법제도적 요인은 경찰의 직업정체성에 부정적인 영향이 있었다. 둘째, 법제도적 요인은 경찰의 조직시민행동에 부정적인 영향이 있었다. 셋째, 조직문화 요인과 법제도적 요인은 경찰부패 수준에 정적 영향이 있었다. 즉, 경찰 부패의 조직문화 요인과 법제도적 요인이 심화되면 경찰의 부패수준에 이에 상응해 상승하는 것으로 나왔다. 마지막으로 경찰의 직업정체성과 조직시민행동은 조직 문화적 요인과 법제도적 요인에 대해 부적 매개효과가 있었다. 즉 경찰의 직업정체성과 조직시민행동을 강화하면 경찰 부패 수준을 낮추는 완화효과가 있었다.
