본 연구는 뭄바톤 장르의 음악을 분석하여 그 속에서 자메이카 음악의 특징을 찾아내는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 루이스 폰시(luis fonsi)의 <데스파시토>와 BTS의 <피땀눈물>을 리듬적, 선율적, 악기적으로 분석하고, 그 속에서 자메이카 음악의 특징을 찾아보았다. 연구 결과, 리듬적인 특징으로는 자메이카 음악에서 파생된 뎀보우 리듬과 레게 리듬의 유형을 보였으며, 선율적으로는 자메이카 특유의 선율 표현 방법인 토스팅의 사용이 돋보였다. 또한, 악기적인 특징으로는 라틴아메리카의 다양한 타악기와 남미의 선율악기, 그리고 드럼머신 Tr-808이 사용되었음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 현재 유행하는 장르인 EDM장르 속에서 자메이카 음악의 요소를 찾는 것을 통해 또 다른 퓨전장르를 만들어 내는 것에 의의를 갖는다
