공공도서관 접근성은 도서관 이용과 밀접한 관련이 있으며, 따라서 도서관 건립 시 지역 주민의 도서관 접근성 향상과 지역 간 격차 완화, 공공도서관 입지의 효율성을 제고할 수 있는 정책이 필요하다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 GIS 분석을 통해 부산 지역 내 공공도서관의 공간적 분포 특성을 분석하고, 공급 불균형 지역을 파악하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 구체적으로 부산 지역 내 공공도서관 서비스 사각지역을 파악하고, 도서관 공급 양호 및 부족 지역 분석, 인구밀도에 근거한 공공도서관 공급 불균형 지역을 확인하여 도서관 건립을 위한 최우선 고려 지역을 도출하였다. 이 연구의 결과를 통해 부산 지역 공공도서관의 공간적 분포를 이해하고, 향후 공공도서관의 신규 입지 결정에 참고자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.
