이 글은 근현대기록물을 수집하고 있는 기관들을 대상으로 수집된 기록물의 유형을 살펴보고 기록관의 역할과 범위, 그리고 나아가야 할 방향에 대해 살펴보고자 쓰였다. 수집된 기록물을 대상으로 근현대기록물의 범위를 지정하고 기록관의 역할을 살펴봄으로써 기록물의 수집과 보존에 대한 균형을 이룰 수 있는 방법에 대해 고민하고 전문적인 역량을 키울수 있는 방안에 대해 제안하고자 한다.
