본 연구의 목적은 탈북민을 대상으로 한 음악중재 연구를 고찰하여 외상 후 성장을 중심으로 내용을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 총 11편의 논문을 선정하여 탈북민 대상 음악중재의 일반적 특성, 중재 내용 및 치료적 근거를 살펴보고, 음악중재를 통한 개인의 변화와 중재목표, 측정도구·측정결과 및 발달 시기에 따른 외상 후 성장과의 관련변인을 확인하였다. 분석한 결과 음악은 안전하고 친숙한 환경을 제공하여 자발적인 참여를 촉진하였으며, 음악중재를 통하여 개인 내적인 힘을 발견하여 일상에서의 적응력이 향상되었으며, 사회·관계 영역에서 긍정적으로 변화를 경험하였으며 미래를 살아갈 자신감이 강화된 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구는 탈북민 대상 음악중재 논문을 외상 후 성장을 중심으로 분석하여 향후 외상 경험자를 대상으로 한 음악중재의 방향을 제시한 것에 의의가 있다.
