The finite element method of composite structure is used to analyze superstructure and foundation. The layered soil models with bilinear deformation behavior are chosen to compute deformation of soil. According to this method the author has worked out a general program in which many types of elements are stored, so that this program can be widely applied to a number of problems of tall buildings. The application of multi-substructure method has made it possible to analyze complicated structures with a medium-sized computer. Finally two numerical examples are given to illustrate the application of the method.(Edited author abstract)
