The aim of this study was to comprehensively examine the cause, actual state, region, and treatment of injury of bodybuilders in training, in order to provide basic data for the prevention of injury and effective training For this, 145 registered bodybuilders of Korea Bodybuilding Federation were sampled randomly. And a questionnaire survey of them was conducted on the basis of the questionnaire―"Research on Training Injury of Bodybuilders"―used by O Jae-geun and O Il-yeong(1992) and O Jae-hun(1993) in their studies. Study findings are as follows: First, all the respondents(n=145) experienced injury in their training. Second, the region of injury was the neck(86.9%), the waist(83.4%), the knees(62.1%), the shoulder(40.7%), the elbows(34.5%), and the head(13.1%). Third, the pattern of injury was muscular tendonitis(38.6%), abrasion(37.9%), muscular sprain(37.2%), cutting wound(29.7%), and laceration(20.7%). Fourth, most of injuries(84.1%) were occurred within a year of their career, whereas only a 15.9% of bodybuilders whose career was more than a year experienced injury in training. And a 93.1% of respondents got injured in typical bodybuilding exercises, whereas a 60% of them in the bench-pressing of the weights. And they experienced injury in wintertime most frequently(57.2%). Finally, the most frequent cause of injury was his or her carelessness(n=124, 85.5%) and it was classified into overweight(41.4%), wrong postures(33.1%), improper conditions(20.0%), and the lack of warming up(5.5%).
