The purpose of this study was to examines the effect of cardiorespiratory function and fatigue factor on Octacosanol administration of field and track athletes(400m, 800m). The subjects of this study were 10 elite athletics males and all subjects were involved in each test The Octacosanol(40㎎, 10㎎ × 4/day) was administration for 10 days and parameters related to the cadiorespiratory function were measured through incremental exercise testing to all-out before and after each treatment. Incremental maximal exercise tests were performed by each subject on a Taeha(korea) treadmill. VO₂max and VE, RQ, RR, O₂pulse, AT, HR RPE was measured on the tests breathed through breathing valves using modify bruce protocol of MetaMax 3B(Metasoft 2, USA). Plasma samples were collected at pre-exercise, post-exercise(all-out), recovery 10min and 30min after incremental maximal exercise(modify bruce protocol) and analyzed for blood lactate. VO₂max(p<.05) and O₂pulse(p<.05), AT(p<.05)were significantly increased by administration of Octacosanol as compared to placebo group(before administration of Octacosanol). RQmax(p<.05) and RPE(p<.01, stage4, 6, 7)was significantly decreased by administration of Octacosanol as compared to placebo group. Values of blood lactate after incremental maximal exercise were showed after lower(p<.05) than before administration of Octacosanol, The results were as follows : 1. The administration of Octacosanol to field and track athletics(400m, 800m) was significantly increased the cardiorespiratory function. 2. The administration of Octacosanol to field and track athletics(400m, 800m) was significantly decreased the fatigue factor duration incremental exercise test. In conclusion, the administration of Octacosanol to field and track athletics may have greater effects of ergogenic aids than don"t ingestion.
