The purpose of this study is to provide a preliminary data preventing sports injuries by examining the injuries occurred when national badminton players participated in exercise and games. This study retrospectively reviewed the injury epidemiology on 49(23 men and 26 women) korea junior elite national badminton players. The responses were represented in percentage as follows; First, all players were exercise for 360 min/day, 6 days/wk, and they were maintained over the last 8 years. Second, 65.2% of men, 73.1% of women were fully warm up exercise. The warm up time were 17.3min in men, 24.6min in women. Third, Injury percentage was back 47.8%, ankle 34.8%, shoulder and elbow 26.1%, knee 21.7%, toe and neck 13.0% and hip, lower extremities, finger 8.7% in men. But in women there were injured ankle 88.5%, knee 69.2%, back 69.2%, shoulder 65.4%, wrist 38.5%, elbow 30.8%, finger 26.9%, neck and hip 23.1% in women. The most common injuries during the practice period. And the most common injury in the spring season(From March to May). Lack of stamina was the biggest cause of injury. Fourth, the skin blisters, muscle salt and muscle stiffness, fractures, sprains and elbow were remarkable in women. As a conclusion, The players were more faithfully in Warm up. Injuries were mainly during spring practice. Male athletes and female athletes were different from the contents of the injury. Female athletes were relatively higher injury rate. Additional research is needed about injuries level and remaining symptoms and recovery time after injury in badminton player.
