Through analyzing how same-sex intimacies are constructed within different social environments and social constraints, in comparison with compulsory heterosexual intimacy, I found that the normative version of heterosexuality regulates and excludes same-sex intimacies as abnormal practices. So, in order to offer how same-sex intimacies could create different life experiments in comparison with heteronormative versions of life journey and gender scripts, we need a detailed analysis to search for diverse life values outside institutionalized forms of love, the family. The social exclusion and being detached from institutionalized intimacy and norms of proper life are not just negative; there is also the potential to create alternative and equal relationships because there are no determined and preconceived life models which homosexuals can follow. In order to highlight the role of individual agency and collective endeavour to create non-normative meaning of same-sex intimacy, the main body of the research was based on qualitative interviews with 18 individuals, divided between 8 gays and 11 lesbians across diverse social status and cultural and material resources.
