Ijujeongchakdam(移住定着談) of ethnic Koreans in China is concerned with an oral epic that contains the story of their migration and settlement, and it is divided into a real story and a folk tale. The purpose of this paper is to generally examine the oral story of their experiences involved in the migration and settlement and to make inference of the aspects of transformation of certain parts into a folk tale through the comparison with the data of the so-called embroidered folk tales, which has its own significance. 1. Inference could be made of some aspects of the way the oral story that contains the process of migration of those who are deprived and driven is transformed into a folk tale, through the embroidered folk tale related to it. As a result, the oral story of experiences sounds straightforward, while the embroidered folk tale sounds rather fabricated as it makes wide use of not only rhetorics such as metaphors, symbols, proverbs, and maxims, but also cliched start and ending in a folk tale way. 2.〈A Song of River Crossing〉 can be cited as a typical work that depicts the grief of the lives of the locals who used to do farming crossing the river at the border. In this work, a technique of insertion a song in the middle of the story was used, which makes it possible to effectively see the experienced reality transformed into a folk tale. 3. Despite unfavorable conditions of Manchuria, emigrants made a splendid achievement of succeeding in grow rice by clearing the land for a farm. In the works where experiences like this are transformed into a folk tale, we can read not only the manifestation of conscience solidaire for overcoming the difficulties they faced, but an underlying optimistic view of the world along with strong tenacity to end up realizing their desires. 4. There are not many oral stories of experiences that depict emigrants’ fighting against the exploiters who bully them. But for the embroidered folk tales, there are many of them in various forms, as it is transformed into a monster-slaying motif. In these folk tales, we can recognize an active spirit of struggle, such as overcoming frustration and attempting to recover or working together to drive exploiters away as well as innumerable moments of frustration that they meet during their life as an emigrant. 5. Among the stories that survived in the strange, there are also not a few works that contains a supporter’s help and brotherly love and nostalgia. In the former, we can see a moving story of experienced reality transformed into a folk tale as it expands into brotherly love or human love. And the latter reminds us of the agony of home loss to last forever by showing the fact that emigrants’ home is just home in mind or home they miss.
