The investigation on the status of the whitening occurring in the waters of Ulsan city, south of the East Sea The investigation was conducted bi-monthly in the waters of Dangsa area in Ulsan city during the period of April 2008 to December 2009 to measure the biodiversity and biomass of seaweed and macro fauna(grazer) and the result was used to estimate the relation between the succession of whitening and grazer. A total of 6 survey stations were designated for each survey. The stations represents whitening and marine forest area of the three Korean seas. For the sampling, a fixed quadrat was installed at each water depth (surface-3m, middle- 6m, bottom-10m) and all species which appeared in each of the fixed quadrats were all collected and sampled. 2. The investigation on the status of the whitening occurring in the waters of Gangwon and Gyeongbuk of the East Sea To understand the status of the whitening in the waters of Gangwon and Gyeongbuk, the investigation was conducted on a station in each waters of Gangwon and Gyeongbuk, representing whitening and marine forest. A total of 4 investigations were bi-monthly done from February to August 2008 and in 2009, 5 investigations were conducted in March, April, June, August and October 2009. The fixed quadrats were installed at water depths of 3m, 6m, 10m and 15m and all species which appeared in the fixed quadrats were all collected. 3. The investigation on the status of the whitening occurring in the waters of Jeju Island Survey stations were designated in the waters of Samyang and Hado which represents relatively high degree of whitening succession and well formulated natural marine forest, respectively. A set of 4 fixed quadrats (size of 50cm×50cm) was alternately installed at water depth of 3m, 6m and 10m to investigate the coverage ratio and composition of the species which appeared. 4.
