▪ Data collection and analysis on the calculation of basic unit for generation
- Surveys are carried out for examples of calculations on basic unit for generation from new constructions and dismantled structures. (Focus on examples of domestic research:1990~2009).
- Studies have been concentrated on dismantled structures.
- Data analyses are carried out after re-classification into the generated quantity of construction wastes and kinds of wastes with high recycle under the division of buildings into their use and structure.
▪ Survey on the generated quantity of construction wastes (buildings, houses)
- New constructions: Surveys are carried out for the classification per use (residential / non-residential), classification per structure (independent house, apartment house, RC, SRC, S structure), and 6 kinds of wastes (waste concretes, waste metals, waste woods, waste synthetic resins, waste boards and other wastes)
- Dismantlement: Surveys are carried out for the classification per use (residential / non-residential), classification per structure (independent house, apartment house, SRC, S structure), and 5 kinds of wastes (waste concretes, waste metals, waste woods, waste synthetic resins, and other wastes).
▪ Calculation (building, house) and verification on basic unit for the generation of construction wastes per use
- Calculations on basic unit for generation per use and structure are carried out for the shape of wastes with high recycle for new constructions and dismantled structures.
- Comparisons and verifications are carried out with basic unit for generation through site data collection and actual measurement survey on new constructions and dismantled structures.
▪ Preparations and suggestions of revision drafts for standard quantity per unit
- Suggestions are made to incorporate revisions as reference on the regulations in the Ministry of Environment through discussions with incumbent departments in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Environment.
▪ Suggestions for the direction of domestic forecast program development through data collection and analysis relating to the development of forecast programs on the quantity of construction waste generation
- As a result of analysis on 7 kinds of domestic and foreign forecast programs for the generation of construction wastes, 2 classifications are categorized such as the applied method with complex basic unit and the applied method with basic unit of waste discharge.
- The development direction of a forecast program for the generation of domestic construction wastes is suggested through the evaluation method consisting of the universal evaluation method (basic unit of waste discharge) and detailed evaluation method (quantity of materials and loss ratio).
- Surveys and analyses are carried out for basic unit for the generation of domestic and foreign construction wastes and DB for basic unit for the generation of foreign construction wastes is built in an effort to make it possible to be used for primary criteria in reviewing basic unit for the generation of wastes that can be applied to the forecast program.
▪ Requirement review on the forecast program for the generation of construction wastes (building, house)
- Although construction wastes are classified into 18 kinds in the Construction Waste Act, construction wastes actually generated at the sites are 9 kinds (waste concretes, waste asphalt concretes, waste woods, waste metals, waste synthetic resins, construction sludges, waste boards, waste construction earth and rocks, and mixed construction wastes).
- Components: Basic unit for generation, unit price information on wastes, basic construction information, special conditions, volume conversion coefficient, pattern of generation per type of waste, progress calculation table, and document forms for administrative organizations

- Forecast for the generation of construction wastes (waste concretes, waste asphalt, waste woods, waste synthetic resins, mixed construction wastes, etc.) generated during new construction and dismantling construction
- Forecast for the generation of construction waste according to progress during new construction
- Forecast for processing cost per type of construction waste
- Forecast for the generation of construction waste changed by peculiarity of construction works
- Comparison and monitoring between forecast quantity and actually generated quantity in the new construction
- Automatical change of the forecast quantity for generation according to the change of construction scope in the new construction
- Output after the insertion of calculated construction waste data into documents (construction waste processing plan, construction waste management ledger, construction waste processing record report) for administrative organizations relating to construction wastes

- Patent registration for the forecast method and device for the generation of construction waste from new construction / dismantling construction

▪ Survey on the generation of construction wastes (Building, Housing)
- The discharge of mixed construction wastes was reduced as much as possible in accordance with the government’s directions for construction waste management and disposal policy and the amount of waste concrete, waste wood and waste synthetic resin was greatly increased when they could be increased in case of their separation and selection instead.
- The table of basic unit was prepared again through the additional verification works for the basic unit on the generation of house and building wastes which was calculated in the 1st year.
- The characteristics which may be generated from each construction site were reflected through annotations. (Ex: Pile constructions, environmental equipment, etc.)
▪Survey on the generation of construction wastes (civil engineering, plant)
- Execution on the classification of characteristics for civil engineering: The classification of wastes generated in civil engineering sites was executed.
- The review on the possibility of recycle for the generated construction wastes was carried out with the survey on the status of the generated waste disposal.
- Judgment on whether or not to apply the construction wastes. In other words, although waste woods and synthetic resins from sites were generated from construction works, the survey was carried out to see whether the constructors should dispose of them or the project owners should collect them.
- Distinction on the generated quantity of basic unit for civil engineering: Classification into tunnel. bridge and road pavement
- The generated quantity of construction wastes from civil engineering and plant dismantling was excluded from the classification system because it can be calculated accurately using design drawings. (However, the review may be necessary if the requirements to be inserted occur on the system for the table of basic unit calculation.)
▪ Calculation for basic unit for the generation of construction wastes per use (civil engineering, plant)
- Calculation on the basic unit of generation per structure of tunnel (based on the floor area), bridge and wall (based on the amount of concrete), and road (the placed floor area – concrete / asphalt concrete)
- Plant: Difficulty in classification per use, classification into type of works (civil engineering / construction / piping)
- A certain type of repetitive pattern is not taken for plants.
- The basic unit on construction works / civil engineering works was quoted for construction works and road works in a plant.
▪ Reflection of the system for basic unit for the generation of construction wastes
- The revisions will be made on the generated quantity of construction wastes per unit area in the “Directives on the Disposal and Recycle of Construction Wastes” announced in the Ministry of Environment Regulation No. 471. (Discussions with the Ministry of Environment under way)
- The basic unit for the generation of construction wastes described in standard cost estimation for construction works was deleted. (Deleted after an announcement by the Ministry of Environment)
