1. Export type spray chrysanthemum cultivar from 2012 to 2015 was carried out in the greenhouse by National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal science. We crossed more than 200 combinations with genetic resources and lines. Characteristics superior lines were selected at the primary test. The following year, selected lines tested the growth and flowering characteristics in year-round production, white rust resistance through a secondary test. Characteristics of the final lines of the third test was selected as a superior line. We developed 11 new export type spray chrysanthemum : 'Angel', ‘Princeling', 'Field Green’, ‘Donna Pink', 'Yellow Marble', 'Cutie Pink', 'Glory Pink', ’Red Marble', ‘Green Diamond', 'Oh Blang' and 'Manito'.
2. Saving effort type standard chrysanthemum cultivar from 2012 to 2015 was carried out in the greenhouse by National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal science. We crossed more than 50 combinations with genetic resources and lines of early flowering type, branchless type. Characteristics superior lines were selected at the primary test. 3. Chrysanthemum white rust, caused by Puccinia horiana, is one of the most destructive fungal diseases in chrysanthemum cultivation worldwide. For increasing efficiency of resistant breeding, molecular markers linked to chrysanthemum white rust resistance gene were developed in pseudo F1 cross population between ‘Puma White’ as susceptible and‘Dancer’ as resistant using bulked segregant analysis (BSA). Of 280 RAPD primers(Operon 10 mer), 18 primers found to be polymorphic. After screening of these primers in 20 individual lines, only OPI-13520 was selected as closely linked marker to white rust disease resistance. Based on correspondence between phenotypic resistant level and marker in 187 segregation population, the genetic distance between white rust resistance gene and OPI-13520 marker assumed to be 3.8 cM. For OPI-13520 marker conversion into sequence characterized amplified region (SCAR) marker, the amplified fragment of OPI-13520 was purified, cloned and sequenced. Based on the DNA sequence of OPI-13520, SCAR maker was generated and verified in 20 individual lines used in BSA-RAPD.The results showed SCAR marker could be used to identify white rust resistance in chrysanthemum.
4. CNRDA flower research institute accomplish this project to develop the high-growth spray typed chrysanthemum from 2012 to 2015. More than 20 combinations were used for this object. This research was done by three steps. The selected excellent lines were passed through normal, forcing and controled culture. After first step, the excellent lines were selected again. In second step, many kinds of examination like blooming, growth characteristics were accomplished. Finally, after third examination, 8 cultivars like ‘Yes Luna’ were developed. These have a characteristics of high-growth and excellent quality.
5. The result of new spray chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum × morifolium) was developed for white rust resistance at the Jeollabuk-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services in from 2012 to 2015. By collecting the genetic resources of the 10 varieties were subjected to characterization. Artificial crossing has conducted a screen of 60 combinations. and 793 floret. Spray chrysanthemum with white rust resistance was developed 8 varieties from 2012 to 2015.
6. The sixth subject was carried to breed heat-tolerant spray chrysanthemum for summer-autumn flowering. The new spray chrysanthemum cultivars were 'Bright ND' with white petals, 'Mild ND' with light pink petals, 'Power ND' with pink petals, 'Grace ND' with pink petals, 'Cutie ND' with white petals, 'Bubble ND' with white petals,'Sweet ND' with pink petals, 'Happy ND' with dark yellow petals, 'Clear ND' with white petals, 'Rich ND' with pink petals, and 'Fancy ND' with yellow petals. The nine cultivars were bred by cross pollination from 2012 to 2015. And trial evaluation was conducted for the selection of that cultivar, including a shading culture in spring and a retarding culture in summer.
7. Development of muti-flower in spray chrysanthemum cultivar from 2012 to 2015 was carried out in the greenhouse by Flower Research Institute, Gyeongnam ARES. We crossed more than 70 combinations with genetic resources and lines every year. Characteristics superior lines were selected at the primary test. The following year, selected lines tested the growth and flowering characteristics in year-round production through a secondary test. Characteristics of the final lines of the third test was selected as a superior line. We developed 11 new muti-flower in spray chrysanthemum : 'Joy Cream', 'Kiz Orange', 'Love Mine', 'Yellow kids', 'Sweet Candy', 'Elsa', 'Morning Angel', ‘Sun Green', 'Green Pasta' ,'Eye Beam' and 'Honey Pink'. New eleven cultivars of spray Chrysanthemum(Dendranthema grandflorum) were developed by seeding and line selection at the Flower Research Institute, Gyeongnam ARES from 2008 to 2013. Characteristic trials of those cultivars were carried out three times from 2010 to 2015. ‘Kiz orange’ was developed from a cross between ‘Kingfisher’ and ‘Sei-vista’, showed orange color, green center, and single type. Lighting and forcing cultivation were possible as 7 week flowering response time. ‘Joy cream’ was developed from a cross between ‘Kingfisher’ and ‘SP07-564’, showed creamcolor, and single type. Lighting and forcing cultivation were possible as 7 week flowering response time. ‘Love mine’ was developed from a cross between ‘Kingfisher’ and ‘Yeosim’, showed pink color, and single type. Lighting and forcing cultivation were possible as 6.5 week flowering response time. ‘Sweet candy’ was developed from a cross between ‘Yen’ and ‘Pinky’, showed pink color, green center, and single type. Lighting and forcing cultivation were possible as 6.5 week flowering response time. ‘Yellow kid’ was developed from a cross between ‘Champy’ and ‘Golden eye’, showed yellow color, and single type. Lighting and forcing cultivation were possible as 6.5 week flowering response time.‘Morning angel’ was developed from a cross between ‘SP09324’ and ‘Bacardi’, showed yellow color, and single type. Lighting and forcing cultivation were possible as 7 week flowering response time. ‘Sun green’ was developed from a cross between ‘Greenlizad’ and‘Bacardi yellow’, showed green-yellow color, and single type. Lighting and forcing cultivation were possible as 7 week flowering response time. ‘Elsa’ was developed from a cross between ‘Eye ball’ and ‘Pinky’, showed pink color, green center, and single type. Lighting and forcing cultivation were possible as 6.5 week flowering response time. ‘Green pasta’ was developed from a cross between ‘Greenlizad’ and ‘Major cream’, showed yellow green color, and single type. Lighting and forcing cultivation were possible as 7 week flowering response time. ‘Eye beam’ was developed from a cross between ‘Green witch’ and‘Green hope’, showed green color, and pompon type. Lighting and forcing cultivation were possible as 7 week flowering response time. ‘Honey pink’ was developed from a cross between ‘king Fisher’ and ‘Eye ball’, showed pink color, green center, and single type. Lighting and forcing cultivation were possible as 7 week flowering response time.
8. Highly favorable and superior domestic cultivars need to be diversified in external/domestic circulation market to enhance competitiveness in Japanese market against South East Asian countries and to diversify export items. Developing disbud type of medium to large sized and voluminous chrysanthemum with various colors and shapes is required to response chrysanthemum demand in external/domestic market. Development of'Aurora'; double flower large sized disbud chrysanthemum cultivar in salmon color. Breeding: ‘Champegne’ × ‘Euro Yellow’ in 2011, Individual selection and screen of growth characteristics: 2013~2014, and 3rd screen of characteristics is Sejong University breeding field in Gonjiam in 2015. 2015. Main characters are early cultivar (6.5-7 weeks) flowering mid-October, salmon color (new type of color in the market), stable flowering shape, and uniform flowering time during all 4 seasons, healthy seedling with strong stem, extended longevity of cutting flower with thick petal, and capability of growing all year round for spray type as well as disbud type.
9. Six new varieties of spray chrysanthemum with early flowering trait from 2012 to 2015 were developed at Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research & Extension Services. Cultivation trials were conducted from 2010 to 2015 for evaluation and selection of the cultivar, which included a retarding cultivation, shading cultivation and natural season cultivation.
The varietyDream Princehas yellow petals and early flowering trait and weeks to flowering under the short day treatment is 7weeks in the autumn season and year-round flowering is possible. The ‘Orange Dream’ has orange colored single type flower and the days to flowering under the short day treatment are about 49, 49 and 56 in the autumn, spring and summer, respectively. The varietyPure Dreamhas weak green color petals of single type, good expression of flower color at high temperatures and vigorous growth. The'Sweety Dreamhas yellow color petals of double type, early flowering trait and white rust resistance. The variety ‘Green Dreamhas weak pink and green color petals of double type and long vase life. Disbud type cultivation is possible which heighten the add value. The 'Cutie Dreamhas yellow color petals of double type, early flowering trait and good expression of flower color at high temperatures. A small size flowers give us a sense of cute.
10. This study was carried to breed new heat-tolerant standard chrysanthemum for summer-autumn flowering. A new standard chrysanthemum cultivar 'Geumhwa' with white petals was released in 2013 and a new standard chrysanthemum cultivar'Younglong' with white petals was released in 2015. 4 hybrid progenies that have good flower-form and uniform growth in summer season, were obtained from 2012 to 2015. A new standard chrysanthemum cultivar 'Geumhwa' was was bred by cross pollination between 'Boryeong hwangguk' and 'ST07-009-02' at the Yesan Chrysanthemum Experiment Station. The cross was made in 2009 and the 'Geumhwa' was finally selected in 2013 after investigating its characteristics from 2009 to 2013. The natural flowering time of 'Geumhwa' is early October, It has large flower, around 13.6cm in flower diameter, the number of the petals is 263. The flower is pink. The response time to flower from short day treatment is about 7.0 weeks. A new standard chrysanthemum cultivar 'Younglong' was bred by cross pollination between 'Seiko No Makoto' and 'ST10-088-03' at the Yesan Chrysanthemum Experiment Station. The cross was made in 2010 and the 'Younglong' was finally selected in 2015 after investigating its characteristics from 2010 to 2015. The natural flowering time of 'Younglong' is late October, It has large flower, around 14.6cm in flower diameter, the number of the petals is 430. The flower shape is similar with'Baekma'. The response time to flower from short day treatment is about 7.5 weeks.
11. Development of autumn flowering type in standard chrysanthemum cultivar from 2012 to 2015 was carried out in the greenhouse by Flower Research Institute, Gyeongnam ARES. We crossed more than 150 combinations with genetic resources and lines every year. Characteristics superior lines were selected at the primary test. The following year, selected lines tested the growth and flowering characteristics in year-round production through a secondary test. Characteristics of the final lines of the third test was selected as a superior line. We developed 2 new white autumn flowering cultivars in standard chrysanthemum : ‘Seolmi’, ‘Danmi’.
12. For the analysis of inheritance modes of white rust disease resistance in Chrysanthemum, 188 Pseudo-F1 segregating population, crossed between ‘Dancer’ as resistant and ‘Puma White’ as susceptible, were developed and inoculated with Puccinia horiana. As a result of resistance screening of 188 lines, the resistant are 159 and susceptible are 29 lines. Based on the segregation ratio, we could expect that white rust resistance in chrysanthemum is inherited by single-dorminant and dosage of resistance allele in ‘Dancer’ is duplex (RRrrrr). For construction of a genetic linkage map and development of molecular markers linked to white rust resistance in Chrysanthemum, EST-derived SSR markers were developed and applied to mapping population. In this study, a total of 8,358 chrysanthemum ESTs were investigated for identification of EST-derived SSR makers. ESTs were searched for SSRs using MISA (MIcroSAtellites) and clustered by MIRA for reducing redundancy. As a result of database mining, 278 non redundant ESTs that contained 285 SSRs were identified. And 16 SSRs were developed by DNA enrichment methods. For developing of SSR markers, a total of 258 primer pairs were designed using Primer3 and tested with 2 chrysanthemum commercial cultivars. Among these, 49 primer pairs were finally selected and could be used as potential markers.For SSR genotyping whole population, each primers were labeled with fluorescent dye such as FAM (blue), HEX (green) and ROX (red), and then analysed using ABI 3730 DNA Analysizer (Applied Biosystems). Genotypes were obtained using GeneMapper v4.0 software(Applied Biosystems). A total of 210 types of alleles were detected in 49 SSR loci (4.29 allele types/locus). Of these, 193 alleles could be genotyped and 17 alleles were not identified. Among 193 alleles, 163 alleles were polymorphic in segregating population and added to chrysanthemum genetic linkage map developed by AFLP markers. And this study gave a clue for determining whether the mode of inheritance is disomic (selective pairing) or hexasomic (random pairing). Most of cultivated chrysanthemums (Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat.) have been found to be polyaneuploid with hexaploid, 2n=6x=54, predominant. But the mode of inheritance was not fixed because of the difficulties of inheritance analysis owing to highly heterozygous and polyploid levels. But, in this study, a clear molecular evidence that the mode of inheritance in chrysanthemum is not disomic but hexasomic were found. These results could be helpful to understand the mode of inheritance in chrysanthemum.
