○ Title : Field trial of cultivation type for mechanization of adaptation in sweetpotato production.
This study was conducted to evaluate the adaptability of sweet potato planting machine in terms of labor time saving and growth and yield of storage root in sweetpotato production. Sweet potato ‘Daeyumi’ variety was used for this field trial and sweetpotato planting machine, which is driven by a tractor, was able to transplant 2 rolls at the same time. The sweetpotato seedling were transplanted on 70 × 20∼25 cm by planting machine and 70 × 20 cm by manpower planting (control) on May 19, 2015 and then sweetpotato was harvested on Oct. 7, 2015. Planting time by the planting machine was 1.8 hours/10a, while it took 15.5 hours/10a by manpower planting. Planting machine saved 88.3% labor time compared to that of manpower planting. The growth of sweet potato (length of main stem, fresh weight of aerial part) in machine planting cultivation was 158 cm and 2,827 kg/10a, respectively. The growth rates were similar to those of manpower planting. Distribution ratio of storage root weight by machine and manpower transplanting of sweetpotato were respectively 64.0%, 56.9% more than 150g. The number of marketable storage root was 3.3 per plant in both planting methods and the average weight of marketable storage root were 215g and 172g, respectively. The yield of marketable storage root by machine and manpower planting cultivation were 3,361 kg/10a and 3,479 kg/10a, respectively.
○ Title : Field test for integrated Mechanization in sweetpotato production
This study that was used the machines from preparing paddy field to harvest was conducted to establish whole process mechanization in sweet potato production ; the newly developed sweet potato transplanter(‘14 development), vinyl-film mulching and soil covering device(’15 development), vines crusher(‘14 development) and universal model. Working system for whole process mechanization was set up on ‘preparing paddy field→transplant→vinyl-film mulching→vines disposal→harvesting’ and the results of field adaptability test by working process was as in the following.
The case of whole process mechanization, preparing paddy field was not conducted to making ridge and was conducted to preplant fertilizer application, tillage and land preparation. Working performance of that was analyzed to 2.1 hour/10a. Practice was included in preplant fertilizer application, tillage, land preparation, making ridge. Working performance of that was analyzed 3.3 hour/10a. The case of transplanting, practice was utilized to man-power and whole process mechanization was utilized to sweet potato transplanter(2014, developed by Rural Development Administration). Working performance of transplanter was 1.8 hour/10a. It can reduce 8 times of labor input compared with practice(making ridge + transplant) at 15.5 hour/10a. The case of vinyl-film mulching, practice was utilized to existing vinyl-film mulching device and labor input and whole process mechanization was utilized to vinyl-film mulching and soil covering device (2015, developed by Rural Development Administration). Working performance of vinyl-film mulching and soil covering device was 0.2 hour/10a. It can reduce 16 times of labor input compared with practice (vinyl-film mulching + labor input) at 3.2 hour/10a. The case of preharvest vines crusher, practice was utilized to knapsack reaper and whole process mechanization was utilized to vines crusher (2014, developed by Rural Development Administration). Working performance of vines crusher was 1.1 hour/10a. It can reduce 4 times of labor input compared with practice at 4.1 hour/10a. Harvesting like practice method was utilized to digger. After digging, it was collected and selected by man-power. Working performance of digger was 1.2hour/10a.
Working time of whole process mechanization was 50.3hour/10a. It can reduce 28% of labor input compared with practice at 70.0 hour/10a. Also the result of economic analysis, the case of whole process mechanization, labor cost was 1,133,303won/10a. It can reduce 22% of labor input compared with practice at 1,452,384won/10a.
