❍ The survival rate of each stage was measured in seeding production of shrimp. The zoea stages (I, II, III) were 90.3, 85.4, and 80.3%, respectively. Also, the mysis stage was 72.1%, and the post larvae stage was 17.3%. Until June 13th, 0.31 million of chinese white shrimp (mean body length; 1.2 cm) has been produced over three times, and all of them were used for the experiment.
❍ As the result of desease screening, the eighteen percent of mother chinese white shrimps were infected with WSSD. Noninfected shrimps were selected and used for seeding production, and there were no viruses in all breeding steps.
❍ The total bacterial number was 2.1~5.3×104 (mean bacterial number; 3.9×104). It was observed ten types of becteria, Bacillus spp., Lactobacillus acidophilus and Enterococcus aecium etc.
❍ In indoor experiment after bio-floc treatment, the growth rate of chinese whithe shrimp was significantly increased for 90 days. Compared to the control, the growth rate of body weight and length were significantly increased over 80% and 100% bio-floc concentrations, respectively. For nonspecific immune reponses, the Prophenoloxiase (proPO) activity was considerably increased over 120% bio-floc concentration. The lysozyme activity was notably increased at 120 and 140% bio-floc concentrations only. Also, the serine proteinase (SP) activity was significantly increased at 140% concentration only. For antioxidant enzymes, superoxide dimustase (SOD) activity was significantly decreased over 80% bio-floc concentration. The catalase (CAT) activity was considerably decreased at 120 and 140% bio-floc concentrations. The growth rate of pacific white shrimp was significantly over 100% biofloc concentration, compared to the control. Also, the growth rate of body length was considerably increased over 120% bio-floc concentration. For nonspecific immune reponses, the Prophenoloxiase (proPO) activity was notably increased over 120% bio-floc concentration. ❍ In outdoor experiment of chinese white shrimp, there were no significant differences in the growth rate of body weight and length, compared to the control after 2 weeks. However, bio-floc treated groups showed the considerable increases for the growth rate of the body weight and length. Similarly, the growth rate of body weight and length in pacific white shrimp were significantly increased after 4 months.
