국내 건설시장 및 수주환경은 감소추세로 이러한 추세는 지속될 것으로 예측되고 있어, 국내 건설기업은 글로벌 건설시장으로 진출을 모색하고 있다. 이와 관련하여 본 연구에서는 글로벌 건설 경쟁력 수준을 평가할 수 있는 평가모델 및 종합적인 평가체계를 구축하고, 글로벌 건설시장 및 건설정책을 종합적으로 분석하여 수요부처 및 기업에게 정책서비스를 제공하고자 한다.
이를 위하여 본 연구의 주요 목표로써 2016년 글로벌 건설경쟁력 평가 및 시사점을 도출하였고 빅 이터 분석을 통해 해외건설 Big이슈 도출을 위한 이슈 후보군을 선정하였다

The global competitiveness evaluation model's weight was supplemented and 2016 global construction competitiveness was evaluated based on the supplemented model. Main evaluation result is as follows.
First, according to the comprehensive global construction competitiveness by country, America ranked first among 20 countries, followed by China.
European countries like Spain, Germany and the Netherlands ranked third ~fifth. Korea ranked sixth, one rank higher than that of the previous year.
America and European countries remain strong.
Second, according to the comprehensive building infrastructure competitiveness by country, America ranked first followed by Germany. Korea ranked twelfth, which is the same as that of the previous year.
※ When it comes to stability in construction market, China ranked first and Korea eighth. For construction systems, Sweden ranked first and Korea thirteenth, and for infrastructure, Japan ranked first and Korea tenth.
Third, according to the construction company's capability evaluation by country, America ranked first followed by China. Korea ranked fourth, two ranks higher than that of the previous year because its building competitiveness (fifth → fourth) and design competitiveness (eleventh → eighth) improved.

However, Korea is still in the middle rank among 20 countries when it comes to design competitiveness. It is ranked eleventh for design productivity and thirteenth for foreign sales against the total sales (internationalization).
Thus, it needs to improve technical power and tap into new markets for improved competitiveness, including increased productivity. To do so, more R&D investment is required.
For analyses of global construction competitiveness evaluation and implication sources, big issues on overseas construction based on big data analyses were identified. For identification of big issues on overseas construction, domestic online articles, 30 daily newspapers like the JoongAng Ilbo, 7 construction related articles including construction economy and 1,759 local newspapers and small media companies were analyzed from October 1st, 2015 to September 30th, 2016. 13,884 cases in total were used for big data analyses and big issue candidates were identified. The analysis result is as shown below.
First, looking into major issues on overseas construction for a year, construction orders in the Middle East decreased because of the drop in oil prices. Accordingly, there were discussions on concerns and crises we may face as profitabilities worsened in overseas construction.
Second, analyzing main concern based on 8 key words on overseas construction among construction issues for the last one year, it was found as following: Region (29.4%) > Business environment (21.4%) > Group (15.8%) > Profitability (14.5%) > Policy and Institution (7.8%) > Market environment (4.2%) > Business (project) (4.15%) > Education (3.2%).
Third, among 30 issues on 8 key words, 10 key issues that are likely to spread and continue were identified. Then, a semantic network map among key words and centrality were analyzed.

In addition, there will be continuous improvement on global construction evaluation indexes and field surveys on construction companies in China that are in the upper ranks in terms of company capabilities to identify implications. Furthermore, we are planning to cooperate with McGraw-Hill (USA) to strengthen public relations on global construction competitiveness evaluation. Based on the identified big issues on overseas construction, we will choose issues that may require in-depth analyses in the following year and publish an overseas construction issue report.
