· Quantitative detection of photo-mechanical effects by laser (and proposal of physical mechanisms based on heat-elastic effects).
· Presentation of study results on scattering and absorption in the skin based on Monte Carlo method; simulation of temperature distribution change in skin based on thermal diffusion equations; and simulation of mechanical effect generation based on heat-elastic wave equation.
· Presentation of laser safety guidelines (draft) based on the simulation results; and skin tissue characteristics constant, literature research on anatomical structures as well as comparative results of international and domestic laser safety standards.
· Presentation of subjects’cognitive data according to various laser parameters; and laser parameters that can induce other tactile senses such as Tap, Flutter, and Vibration.
· Development of ultrashort pulse laser amplification system for implementing efficient tactile feedback; and analysis of broadband optical characteristics of optical film for inducing heat-elastic effect of medium.

■ Laser Haptic Neurophysiology
Neuroscience
· fMRI study revealing that the somatosensory area, which processes tactile information in the cerebrum by laser stimulation, is activated, thus providing a neuroscientific basis for laser-based tactile sensation
· EEG studies showing that laser stimulation and general mechanical stimulation induce similar patterns of cerebral neuronal responses, thus providing a neuroscientific basis for laser-based tactile sensation
· Identification of activation patterns similar to mechanical stimuli through fMRI and EEG studies on various types of stimulation by using a laser, for example, on laser indirect stimulation using a medium or plasma stimulation
· Development of a cerebral structural/functional connectivity model for various tactile information that can be induced by laser, such as vibration and pressure
· Presentation of the neuroscientific mechanism for roughness, stickiness, hardness, and warmness, which are the fundamental elements of the tactile perception, thus proposing a neuroscientific information processing model for the human tactile perception principle.
Neurophysiology
· Identification of ion channel characteristics and ion channels for tactile perception in Merkel cells
· Identification of the electrophysiological characteristics of ion channels for tactile perception (Piezo2) aforementioned, which is the first research in the world (under review; Sci. Rep. As of February 2017)
· Identification of signal transmissions for general mechanical stimulus sensing in ion channels
· Laser-assisted mechanical stimulation setup compatible with patch clamps and intracellular calcium concentration imaging recorders, and domestic and PCT patent applications
· Examination of similarity with ion channel recording and mechanical stimulation reactions activated by laser stimulation using Merkel cell line (MCC-13) and nerve cell line (N2a): Identification of Piezo2 activation by laser

· Exploration of the possibility of using laser stimulation through analyzing the performance of standardized and commercialized Braille devices by investigating and studying the cognitive data and performance of the conventional array-type braille system
· Provision of explanations and guidelines for the thermoelastic effect of the medium itself, similar to direct stimulation, in order to develop laser tactile optimization techniques based on cognitive properties.
· Use of PVDF force measurement sensor to construct measurement profile for laser indirect stimulus force (data, graph), and to analyze peak amplitude, duration, and so on.
· Evaluation for cognitive performance of 532 nm, or 1064 nm laser based indirect radiation stimulation
