Music has close realtion with man's mental side and has a great influence on his development. thus, music therapy as a psychological treatment is necessary for modem stress. The purpose of this study is to grasp the relation between music and mental health, so that we may apply it to our daily life. For this study, we have observed the psychological change of five children with uneasy emotion by letting them listen to music twice a week for fifteen weeks. The appreciated works are Mozart's such as piano No. 20, No. 21, serenata, Beethoven's piano sonata Pathetique, Mondschein, Symphony No. 6, Liszt's Ungarische Ryapsodie, Liebestraume, J. Brahms's Hungarian Dance, Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, Siberius's Finlanldia, Massenet's %is, Schumann's Kinderszenen, Violoncello concerto, Schubert's Symphny No. 8, Tchaikovsky's piano concerto No. 2, Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen, J. Strauss's Waltz, Rachmaninow's piano concerto No. 2, Vivaldi's Le quattro stagioni, Grieg's Peer-Gynt suite. The five children, though there was some difference among individuals, have shown some changes in common as follows: 1. Before appreciation, they were all passive in personal relationship due to a sense of inferiority, But they gradually became active and came to have self-reliance. 2. through the music therapy, they came to be able to express the subconsciousness and to let the suppressed mentality relaxed. 3. Being selfish before the therapy, they have grown considerate of others. 4. By listening to music, they came to have the ability to imagine in their own way, by which self-expression is possible. By this study, we find the possiblity of the psychological treatment through music appreciation for the juveniles with unesy mentality.
