This paper starts with the fact that the choice of frame story technique is a methodological one to reveal and concrete the writer's ideology. This paper focuses on the followings. First, does the story conveying method through the frame structure really get a certain kind of aesthetic effects in forming the text artistically? Second, furthermore, does that technique get any rhetoric results in conveying the writer's beliefs or viewpoints to readers? In the history of Korean novel, the frame story dated from Chosun dynasty appeared to confess and admit that the story is fiction in the process of revealing and conveying the story as fiction. Or it appeared as a dialogic strategy to make fiction to be believed as a truth. Peculiarly, it shows that it has been used as a method of blurring who the author is, to conceal the writer, because of novel's socio-critical aspects. The frame story with these characteristics had been continued after the period of reformation in the early 1900s. And it can be appraised that it is the result of exceeding desires of writers to teach and convey the writer's following of simple techniques and reformative thought and ideology. In the modern novels, frame stories had been continued to appear to be a part of the history of the novels. With the delicacy and specialization of the novel's technique, the frame techniques with the aims of admitting the fictitiousness, emphasizing the facts, and hiding writers were developed to be realized as an aesthetic device of the novel. And it is used to improve the quality of the works. The distance of frame story and inner story, the core of deciding the changes of narrative situation, was further in the past. But through the period of reformation to postmodern era, the distance is getting narrow. Therefore the border of the frame story and inner story is collapsed and made into one world. To prove it, we. can suggest an example that the narrator of frame story who guides and leads the inner story changes its role and position to reflector. This has a close relationship with the transformation of novel's formal changes from ancient era through reformation era till the postmodern era. This kind of changes is engaged with the elements of narrative situation, style, person, and perspective. The changes of narrative situation shows the following. First, the readers who had been the simply delivered are being transformed to participate actively in forming the text after postmodern era. Second, while there had been many novels which had been narrated by the 1st or the 3rd person, most of modern and postmodern novels narrate the whole story with the 1st person. Third, the perspective has been changed from external one to internal one. These changes are surely affecting the discourse and accompany the change of it. In fact, before the reformation era, a singular discourse was mainstream, but multiple voice system with the dialogic structure often shows its appearance after modern era.
