연구도구로는 Barbara A. Davis(1988)가 고안한 Customer Emergency Care Satisfaction Scale(CECSS)를 수정하여 사용하였다.

A medical fee system, called an "Emergency Care Fee" has recently been devised, as more customers want to pay for their medical services, in proportion to their increase in expenses. The purpose of this study, was to survey every customer's emergency care satisfaction scale, and to find the causes that influenced it. From September 29 to October 28, data was collected, through descriptive surveys, completed from questionnaires, given to 228 customers, over the age of 18, who visited Emergency Rooms or Emergency Medical Centers, in three hospitals (two in Pyongtaek and three in Suwon). The results were measured on the "Customer Emergency Care Satisfaction Scale" (CECSS) introduced by Barbara A. Davis(1988). The results are a s follows: 1) By customer's general characters, the group that were male(56.6%), over 56 of years of age(36.4%), married(79.4%), professionals/workers in the business(26.8%), Buddhists(28.5%), in the intermediate level of economical condition(47.8%) and those that had graduated from less than high school, were the most. 2) By customer's emergency room use situation, 42.5% of the group had surgical treatment, 60.1% visited the emergency room the first time, 41.7% spent less than 30 minutes in getting to the emergency rooms, 22.8% visited between 8:00 a.m. and 11:59 a.m., 45.2% waited for less than 1 hour, 46.6% stayed for less than 2 hours. 3) Customer's emergency care satisfaction scale average was 2.78 point(of 5 point). In detail. the average was 3.74 point in the skill of medical care technic. 2.16 point for discharge teaching, 2.31 in offering informations, 2.81 in the mental security. Customers thought that their emergency care satisfaction scale decreased because of the nurses' heavy workload and too many patients. 4) The group that were males, over 51 years of age, were married and had graduated from less than high school, had no religions, were in the lower level of economical situation, and were the most satisfied with their emergency care. The group that had surgical treatment, visited two to four times, spent less than 1 hour getting to the emergency room, visited between 00:00-03:59, didn't wait for a long time, and stayed in the emergency room for less than 2 hours. 5) When customers' general characters were correlated with the customers' satisfaction scale, there were meaningful positive correlations in the fields of age. 6) When the situations in which customers used emergency rooms were correlated with the customer's emergency care satisfaction scale, there were meaningful negative correlations in the field of a medical department, waiting time, in or out the emergency rooms, and of the lengths of stay in the emergency rooms. In conclusion, to raise the customer's emergency care satisfaction scale, the nurses who work in emergency rooms should, a t all times, be faithful to their duties and should always explain the various situations to the patients, before treatment. It is also necessary to lessen the time that the patients are in the adjoining rooms, waiting for the doctors to examine them initially, and also, the time that they actually stay in the emergency rooms.
