Soybeans contain various physiology activated materials, so that they are used very essentially in our dietary life. The functional materials for physiology in soybean are isoflavone, fiber, phytic acid, trypsin inhibitors, saponin, soybean protein, hydrolysis peptide, phytosterol and phenolic compounds, etc. Especially isoflavone is known for the substitute material to female sex hormone. Therefore, the purpose of this study is proving the effects of soybean on recovering the hair health. To accomplish this purpose, this study took one male adult in Norwood's Ⅳ type, two male adults in Norwood's Ⅲ type, two female adult in Ludwig's I type, two in Ⅱ type and two in No type as subjects. And as a confront group, two in Ludwig's I type were taken. Total 11 persons had eaten soybeans for three months. As a result, they all experienced a change in head skin and improvement in hair health. After taking soybeans, the subjects became clean, their hair got shiny and their hair health was recovered along with hair growing on 0.3㎠ of the appointed area. But the scalp of the confront group got worse to change into yellow and red color. Before taking black soybean, the hair of the subjects was in unhealthy condition of dandruff, pimples and red color. But after taking them, this condition vanished and the hair health has been improved and preserved in a good condition. The thickness of hair of subjects was separated into thin part and thick part, was measured and compared by digital micro meter device. The result is that all of nine subjects got thicker hair in both part compare to previous experiment. Among the two measured parts, especially the hair thickness in thin part showed more than 20% increasing rate than that in thick part and by gender, the hair thickness of females showed higher increasing rate than that of males. This result indicates that phytoestrogen in isoflavone, one of the functional ingredient of soybean, performes similar function to estrogen so that it increased the amount of female hormone to make hair thick and healthy. In numbers of creating hair , the average hair numbers in certain part of four measured subjects were approximately 25, but three months later after taking black soy beans that was about 38 showing 53% increase. It is considered that the increase of protein composition due to the fact that soybean is easy to digest and absorb may activate scalp and hair cell to accelerate the formation of hair. In the research survey on the effect of soybeans on scalp and hair, all of the subjects responded positively to express their satisfaction in the test. But it was also found that their knowledge on hair management way for healthier hair was poor. This suggested that the promotion of the hair management knowledge related to physical health to the general people should be needed. Recently, as various physiology functional materials were revealed, many studies has been conducted. Therefore, this study is intended to help the study of relationship between hair and food, which can be applicated to healthy scalp maintenance, hair creation, and beauty vital activated materials.
