This study was performed to investigate the prevalence of disordered eating attitudes and its associated factors in some high school girls. A cross-sectional study with 1,211 females were surveyed by questionnaires including general characteristics, body concern, life style, self-esteem and the Korean version of eating attitude test-26(KEAT-26). We assessed the prevalence of disordered eating attitudes and compared the KEAT-26 scorn according to subject's characteristics. Statistical methods were used t-test, analysis of variances(ANOVA), Pearson's correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. Based on the KEAT-26 scores greater than 22, 5.45% of OUT subjects had scores predictive of disordered eating attitudes. The mean scores of KEAT-26 was 8.85±8.17. The statistically significant factors by univariate analysis were body concern, content for their body shape, weight control, eating the breakfast, preference of snack, alcohol drinking, smoking, self-esteem, and body mass index. As a result of multiple regression analysis, body Concern, content for their body shape, weight control, preference of snack and alcohol drinking were statistically significant associated factors with scores of KEAT-26. These results suggest that body concern and life style are risk factors for disordered eating attitude among high school girls. Preventive strategies may usefully focus on these risk factors that lead to disordered eating attitudes.
