A mathematical model is a description of real world phenomena in terms of mathematics. Through a mathematical modelling process, a complex problematic circumstance of real world is transformed into a rather simple mathematical problem, which is solved using mathematical knowledges. In this study, we survey a background of Discrete Mathematics, introduce definitions of the mathematical modelling, and give some examples which shows how real world problems can be solved using mathematical modelling processes. The purpose of this thesis is to provide examples of mathematical modelling processes of graph related problems occurring in various situations of the real world, so that teachers use them in classrooms to help students understand the relevance of mathematics and the real world. Consequently, students are expected to have more interests and better understanding of mathematics. In the first chapter, we describe the purpose and the background of this study. In the second chapter, the definitions of the mathematical modelling are introduced and the effectiveness of mathematics education using mathematical modelling processes are investigated. In the third chapter, we explain how given real world problems are transformed into mathematical problems, and then we solve them using mathematical knowledge, especially graph theory here, and finally we apply the mathematical solution to the original problem in real world terms. We mentioned some of the expected results from the mathematics education using mathematical modelling processes in the last chapter.
