As interest in health and fitness has been increasing recently, practicing both proper nutrients intake and training has taken a priority among many effective training methods. The current study attempts to investigate the effects of natural and supplementary proteins that have been recommended for athletes as well as ordinary people on physical composition, strength, and blood components. Twenty three adult males who ranged in 20-30 in age were examined. They were to take 1.5g of protein per 1 kg of weight, twice a day(an hour after exercising and an hour before sleeping at night) for 10 weeks. The results are described in the following. 1. No significant changes were found in weight, the amount of body fat, the ratio of body fat, and the ratio of abdomen fat between the two groups. However, the group who took supplementary protein showed a significant increase in the amount of muscle. 2. As for the changes in strength, the group who took supplementary protein showed a significant increase in leg press, and the group who took natural protein indicated significant increases in bench press and leg press. 3. In changes in physical circumferences, the group who took supplementary protein showed a significant increase in the circumferences of the lower leg. An increase in the circumference of the higher leg was also found with the group who only exercised, but it did not reach the significance level. 4. No significant changes in blood indicators were found among all groups participated in the study. No changes were found between the two periods of before and after taking proteins. 5. The changes in blood lipid component indicated that no changes among the groups participated in the study as well as between the two periods of before and after taking proteins. However, after 10 weeks of training, the triglyceride concentration of the group who exercised was in the normal range, but that of the comparison group was above the normal range. This results seems to suggest the effects of exercise. The current findings suggest that taking natural protein and supplementary protein is both effective in improving strength. Also the study found that additional protein intake can exert a positive influence on the changes in triglyceride even for people who exercise regularly and continuously. The result showed a necessity for taking protein as supplementary foods especially for people who do resistance exercise.
