비학습행동 아동의 행동수정 사례 연구 : 혐오자극과 정적 강화의 효과 비교 (A) case study on behavior modification on child with non-learning behavior : comparison between the effects of aversive stimuli and positive reinforcement원문보기

This case study tried to identify whether the aversive stimuli or positive reinforcement affect the non-learning behavior. This study, trying to find out which way of the two behavior modification method would be more effective for reduction of non-learning behavior, involved one 5th grade boy student. The study problems were as follows: 1) Does aversive stimuli have an effect on reducing children's non-learning bahavior? 2) Does positive reinforcement have an effect on reducing children's non-learning bahavior? 3) Between aversive stimuli and positive reinforcement, which one is more effective for reducing the involved child's non-learning behavior? The involved child of this study was 5th grade boy of Y elementary school in Gwangju, who barely showed any interest in his school life, seemingly helpless and had been observed with non-learning behavior including hardly participating in learning activities in class, often toying with his hands and scribbling on his textbooks. Time sampling was employed as observation tool; observed in every 5 minutes during 2nd and 3rd class hour, for 24 times. Experiment was conducted in baseline period, treatmentⅠ period, treatment Ⅱ period and reversal period. And the result, observation frequency of target behavior per total observation times, was presented in percentage. The result was as follows: First, during treatment Ⅰ period where aversive stimuli were employed, the target behavior frequency reported as 43.8%, which was reduced by 28.1% from the 71.9% of baseline period. Therefore, aversive stimulus revealed to have an effect on reduction of non-learning behavior. Second, during treatment Ⅱ period where positive reinforcement was employed, the target behavior frequency reported as 55.5%, which was reduced by 16.4% from the 71.9% of baseline period. Therefore, both of the two behavior modification methods showed effects on reduction of non-learning behavior. Third, of the two behavior modification methods, aversive stimuli showed bigger effect on the subject child of this study. During aversive stimuli period, the target behavior frequency was reduced by 28.1% from that of the baseline period while the positive reinforcement period showed 16.4% of reduction. In other words, more distinctive reduction was observed in aversive stimuli period.
