Effects of Music Appreciation Activity through Body Movement on Young children's Musical Aptitude and Creativity원문보기
PMMA(The Primary Measures of Music Audiation)를 이헬렌(2004)이 번안한 것을 사용하였으며, 음악적 창의성은 Wang(1985)이 개발한 MCSM(Measures of Creativity in Sound and Music)을 허순희(1996)가 번안한 것을 재구성하여 측정하였다.

This study aimed to examine effects of music appreciation activity through body movement on young children's musical aptitude and creativity and to discuss validity of its application to the field of early childhood education. For this, it set the following research problems. Question 1. What is the influence of music appreciation activity through body movement on young children's musical aptitude? Question 1. What is the influence of music appreciation activity through body movement on young children's musical creativity? Subject of this study was five-year old 40 children attending Y kindergarten in Gwangju metropolitan city (20 for experimental group and 20 for control group). As research tool for measuring young children's musical aptitude (sense of tune and rhythm), PMMA developed by Gordon in 1979 and adapted and revised by Lee Helen (2004) was used. MCSM developed by Wang (1985) and adapted and recomposed by Huh Sun-Hee (1996) was used as the tool for measuring young children's musical creativity. Experimental procedures consisted of preliminary research, pre-test, experimental measures for 6 weeks and post-test. Homogeneity between experimental group and control group was examined through pre-test before experimental measures and then experimental group conducted motions through body movement through 12 times, twice a week, for six weeks. To verify effects of motions through body movement on young children's musical aptitude and creativity, scores of pretest and post-test between both groups were analyzed with t-test using SPSS program. Results of analysis are as follows. First, as a result of post-test with experimental group having direct music appreciation activity through body movement and control group having indirect music appreciation activity through formative activities such as making and painting, young children's musical aptitude ability in experimental group was statistically and significantly higher. In all tests of sense of tune and rhythm which are sub-factors of young children's music aptitude ability, experimental group conducting music appreciation activity through body movement was higher with significant difference than control group conducting indirect music appreciation activity through formative activities. Second, as a result of post-test with experimental group having direct music appreciation activity through body movement and control group having indirect music appreciation activity through formative activities such as making and painting, young children's musical creativity in experimental group was statistically and significantly higher. In all tests of sense of musical fluency, musical imagination and musical originality which are sub-factors of young children's musical creativity, experimental group conducting direct music appreciation activity through body movement was higher with significant difference than control group conducting indirect music appreciation activity through formative activities. Results of this study suggest that direct music appreciation activity through body movement is significant activity to improve young children's musical aptitude and creativity. Accordingly, it is considered that music appreciation activity through body movement should be applied to the field of early childhood education with a view to enhance their musical aptitude and creativity.
