As English has become a global language, the Korean government made a statement to have a native English teacher in every middle school by 2010 to increase communicative competence in the students. In order to make this policy successful, it is necessary to research the teaching skills of the native English teacher. Since ''question strategy'' is known as the most effective strategy to stimulate the output of the students, it is necessary to see how native English teachers are using the question strategy. The classes of one native English teacher had been recorded for eight weeks. These records had been analyzed twice using the rubric of Long & Sato, and McCormick & Donato. After analyzing the types of questions the native English teacher used, I compared it with the grades of the students, and also with the material of the class to see if there is any significance. Also, I examined to see whether the native English teacher is giving scaffolded assistance. As a result, the native English teacher used display questions most frequently. However, compared to other research, the proportion of display questions to referential questions was lower, which indicates that the native English teacher tried to have meaningful conversation with the students and stimulate the students with ''real'' questions. As to the number of clarification requests, the results also show that the number of clarification question were fewer than expected, because the native English teacher used simple Yes/No questions, the clarification of the answer was not necessary. The proportion of the questions the teacher used was different according to the grades and contents. When the class consisted of a review or a pop song session, display questions were the most frequently-used questions. When the class was about ''asking and giving directions'', comprehension questions were frequently used. Even when the class was simply doing the ''filling in the blanks'', if the students had freedom to choose what to answer, referential questions were used more than display questions. Analyzing the teacher''s questions using the rubric of McCormick & Donato, ''direction maintenance'' were the most commonly used questions. The teacher used ''reduction of degrees of freedom'' when the students could not answer the teacher''s questions. ''Marking the critical factor'' was used less than expected because instead of giving grammatical hints or language features, the teacher told gave sentence starters for memorized phrases or expressions. The native English teacher had a tendency to ask simple questions so that students with low competence could participate as well. However, the teacher needed to use various structure when forming a question so that the students with higher competence can learn new structures. In addition, the teacher needed to wait longer so that students can process the question and produce an answer.
