This study intended to develop educational program for child's Poongmul play. This study was conducted during 10 months from April, 2004 to February, 2005. The researcher designed the programs with pre-application of Poongmul play, analysis of kindergarten curriculum, interviews with teachers and field observation in order to develop pre-programs and apply the pre-programs. To achieve this the following research questions were addressed. 1. What are contents for educational programs of child's Poongmul play? 2. What are contents for basic beat, procedural steps and an annual teaching program of child's Poongmul play? Prestudies and interviews were conducted to apply the programs on 26 children(14 boys and 12 girls) in the researcher's class at C school annexed kindergarten and 12 kindergarten teachers. The researcher developed educational programs for Poongmul play through an annunal program of daily life and traditional children's songs to help teachers who were unaccoustomed to teaching Poongmul play, and the procedures were like below. First, the researcher started teaching Poongmul play in class on the basis of a- five-year workshop experience and basic materials to pre-apply the programs, and subdivided kindergarten curricula into several areas, such as searching sound, searching movement, making sound, singing songs, handling rhythmic instrument, appreciating music, appreciating dancing and respecting art expression, to choose what were related to Poongmul play. Teacher's interviews and field observation were conducted from April to June to make contents of pre-programs. Second, the pre-programs were about the basic beat, procedural steps and an annual teaching program, and they were to examine whether children were suitable for Poongmul play. Third, the result of applying the pre-programs was analyzed from June to November to revise and supplement activities in the programs with observing and evaluating children's Poongmul play performance. Fourth, the revised pre-programs were recomposed from June to next February, and modified into a word beat program, a wordplay beat program, a procedural guide program with daily themes and an annual teaching program with traditional children's songs, considering children's interest and ability to have fun and amused. The procedure of teaching/learning method study suggested to take shape as in theoretical study and basic materials investigation, kindergarten curriculum analysis, pre-investigation for drafting pre-programs, drafting pre-programs, applying the pre-programs and analyzing the results to develop educational programs for child's Poongmul play. Fifth, the educational programs for child's Poongmul play were developed with revising and supplementing the problems and defects, found in the pre-programs. Three elements of Poongmul play, too broad to have the planned activity, were chosen for the pre-programs to give children more interests, but later revised to have more specific meanings. The songs and themes were are as follows: 7 songs for the word beat and 7 songs for the wordplay beat, instead of 7 songs for the basic beat, 46 songs for the procedural guide program with daily themes instead of the procedural guide program, 96 songs for the annual teaching program with traditional children's song, instead of the annual guide program. The final educational programs for child's Poongmul play were developed into 3, such as word beat Poongmul play from the basic beat, procedural guide Poongmul play with daily themes from procedural steps and an annual teaching program for Poongmul play with traditional children's songs from the annual Poongmul play guide. First, 14 activities of the word beat and the wordplay beat programs, added 9 activities to 5 basic beat activities in the pre-programs, were consisted of specific language and wordplay to learn the beat with easiness and excitement. The children had more fun in the active wordplay with beat through talking than learning it with making sound of instruments. Second, 46 activities of the procedural guide Poongmul play with daily themes had the same purpose with the procedural guide in the pre-programs, but were more easy to relate to the daily activities, so every Friday children had a Poongmul play class. As a result children used Poongmul play in their daily life and expressed the fun and excitement at any time. Third, 36 activities of the annual teaching program with traditional children's songs from the step 1 of knowing sound, step 2 of beat hitting, step 3 of dancing, step 4 of Jinpuri(making shapes while playing), step 5 of Poongmul play in the annual guide program, so children developed collective responsibility and sociality with continuously involving in Poongmul play.
