Multilayers of TiO_(2)/SiO_(2) dielectric coatings deposited by ion-assisted electron beam evaporation have been characterised by means of transmittance spectra analysis. Multilayer films were deposited on glass(D263) sequentially. Measurements have been done on various multilayer thin-film devices,e.g., high reflectivity mirror, IR cut-off filter and AR-cover glass. Forty one layer TiO_(2)/SiO_(2) coating mirrors with high reflectance through a 620-820 nm wavelength range have been designed. The high reflector design is based on alternating high and low refractive index layers, n_(H) and n_(L), such that a "stopband" (or area of high reflectivity) is created, centered around the design wavelength, λ_(0). The measured transmittance spectrum with an incident wavelength at an incident angle of 40º±7º exhibited a reflectance of 99.9% at the wavelength of 620-820 nm with a high peak transmittance in the wavelength region from 700 to 740 nm. IR cut-off filters are frequently used as heat-absorbing filters since they let the visible spectral range pass while strongly blocking the infrared rays from 720 nm on. They are used with color CCD or CMOS imagers to produce true color images. An IR cut-off filter blocks the transmission of the infrared while passing the visible. A minimum transmittance of ≤3% in the wavelength range from 720nm to 1100nm and a maximum transmittance of ≥90% in the visible range have been obtained successfully from the deposited 33-layer TiO_(2)/SiO_(2) IR cut-off filter coatings. Single-wavelength anti-reflection is used to provide the lowest reflectance with narrow wave band for most laser application. Minimum reflection is less than 0.1%. A such AR-filter shows a reflection of ≤0.6% in the wavelength range between 400 and 700nm, ≤0.3% between 460 and 540nm, and 0% at 490nm.
