In this thesis, the results of an investigation involving direct dynamics trajectory simulations for chemical reactions are reported. Classical trajectory simulations were used to study gas-phase unimolecular dissociation dynamics, gas-surface collision dynamics, and reaction path dynamics. For the determination of product energy partitioning in unimolecular dissociation of halogenated alkanes, a single trajectory (ST) direct dynamics approach is used and compared with quasiclassical trajectory (QCT) direct dynamics simulations. The ST approach is used to study mass effects for product energy partitioning in HX (X=F or Cl) elimination from halogenated alkanes. The MP2/6-31G* potential energy surface (PES) for C2H5F dissociation and variation of the C, H, and F atomic masses were used in this approach. There is, at most, only a small mass effect for partitioning of energy to HX vibration and rotation. In contrast, there are substantial mass effects for partitioning to relative translation and polyatomic product’s vibration and rotation. PES effects on some systems were investigated, and HX vibration energies were strongly related to initial PES. Also unimolecular dissociation of CF3CH3 → CF2CH2 + HF was investigated and good agreement with experiments was found. A QM + MM direct dynamics simulation, with the MP2/6-31G* theory as a model for the intramolecular potential of protonated glycine (gly-H+), is used to study gly-H+ + diamond {111} SID. The simulations are performed for collisions perpendicular to the surface at 70 eV collision energy. Both the energy transfer and gly-H+ fragmentation dynamics, observed in this study, are in accord with a previous study. A particularly important finding from the current study is that a significant fraction of the gly-H+ ions fragment via a shattering mechanism as they collide with the surface. For the investigation of cycloaddition reaction of cycloaddition and ethene, two initial starting points were selected. The trajectory was initiated at TS15 for the concerted pathway and at TS17 for the biradical pathway. The trajectory that was initiated at TS15 showed [2+1] cycloaddition mechanism, and provided an interesting feature about the dynamics behavior of the reactive intermediate. Finally the trajectory started at TS17 showed that the biradical pathway could not make stereochemistry retention reaction product.
