The main objective for this study is to prove how the child who goes through difficult emotions such as separation anxiety disorder, reflects and adjusts to art therapy as a treatment. Based on Mahler's theory, this therapy provided a calm and safe environment for the child to help create better ways to confront and overcome the anxiety. It has also created a special bond between the child and the therapist, which led them into the separation-individuation phase. The purpose of this art therapy is to facilitate positive change through engagement with the therapist and the art materials in a safe environment. The result of this case study is as follows: First, the art therapy helps the child to reduce his anxiety, also it is effective to change the child's self-representation. Second, the art therapy is used as a way for children to enter the separation-individuation phase, which can be created by a special bond between the child and the therapist. Third, the art therapy is ideal for the child dealing with social mal-adjustment. It can help child to change his mal-adjusted behavior.
