In the twentieth century, the development of the science of brain is slowly solving the questions on the human's behaviors. The human brain is not working like simple computer machine, but all the nerve cells are having mutual interactions by sending signals to each other and they create human's intellectual and emotional capabilities. All the countries in the world is contributed to explore this mysterious part of the brain, and the educational field is also seeking for various ways to apply this science to the field. Each independent function of left and right brain provides many suggestions to the art education. In this country, too much emphasis on the development of left-brain requires the right-brain's improvement through art education. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to understand the effects of art activities on the brain's reaction. Several middle school students between 14 and 16 years old who are preparing for the entrance examinations to major in studio art, participated in this research to see their brains' reactions. To find the relationship between the reactions and the term they had been drawing, we divided them to two groups, A group with the people who had been drawing more then a year and B group with the people who had been drawing less than six months, to find the superior part between left and right brain. The Betty Edwards program, one of drawing programs with using right brain, were used and through 'Drawing Reversely' activity, we studied about their abilities to understand and react to the objects. According to the result from the first research, A group had 78.1% and B group had 65.5% as the status of brain activity and this proves that the left and right brain are working evenly, not depending on the time that students' contributed to drawing. Secondly, B group had better results than that of A group on their perceiving abilities to draw reversely. B group students who do not have any preconception on objects improved their abilities faster than A group students who are used to drawing methods for the entrance examinations for a long time. After the drawing class with using only right-brain, students realized the importance of taking this kind of class to try new methods besides their existing educational methods. For the effective education system in art, it is necessary to understand fully the interaction between two parts of brain, left and right. Especially, to solve the problems that occur from emphasizing creativity in art education and to make students more creative, it is important to approach it with more scientific and systematic methods based on the brain science. This process will help to establish stronger art education programs.
