The purpose of this study is to investigate the meanings of the group art therapy focused on clay-work to the Schizophrenia Patients for their rehabilitation. For this purpose, one-hour art therapy program with total 12 sessions were carried out to the five schizophrenia patients that attended at a community mental health center in Seoul. The art therapy were evaluated qualitatively as a case study through the observation of an art therapist about art-working, a recorded communication in session, art-works and the record of an art therapy assistant. The results of this study were as follows: First, A group art therapy programs focused on clay-work enriched self expression and emotions of Schizophrenia Patients by the medium of a characteristic of clay. Second, A group art therapy programs focused on clay-work made arouse a self-activity of Schizophrenia Patients through the plasticity of clay. Third, A group art therapy programs focused on clay-work built an ability of a communication and cultivated the team spirit of Schizophrenia Patients in group. Fourth, A group art therapy programs focused on clay-work made increase a positiveness and a flexibility of Schizophrenia Patients because of an active movement. Based on the results of the study, the writer suggests the following: First, it is essential to perform the art therapy program with a long-term sessions and a full of Schizophrenia Patients in order to generalize the result of the study about program.
