This study aims to offer a preliminary study of programs for practical use in the field of early childhood education by experimenting the effects of physical activities toddle's Motor Ability and Social-emotional development. The research questions in this study are as follows: 1. What effects do physical activities have on toddler's motor Ability? 2. What effects do physical activities have on toddler's social-emotional development? The subjects used in this study were 30 two-years-old young children in the M child care center and C child care center located in G city. The subjects compose of experimental group with 15 members and comparativegroup with 30 members. Experimental group participated in body activities 3 times a week in 5 weeks and participated in body activities of total fifteen. Comparing group participated in outdoor activities in the same period. The measuring tool for toddler's motor activity was the 「Test for motor proficiency」developed by Werder & Bruininks(1988). In order to measure the development of infants' social sentiments, I revised terms of「standards for the measure of social sentimental development」, which developed in Korean Institute for Research in the Behavioral Sciences at 1978 and then Ji Ok Jeong revised and complemented at 1996, by adjusting to infants and used it. I analyzed data collected before and after examination by t-test using SPSS statistical program. The results of this study are like followings. First, experiment group which performed physical activities of combining basic exercise and locomotive elements was compared with controlled group which performed individually outdoor activities, and the results of motor Ability's development showed scores of toddler's motor ability in experimental group comparing with those in controlled group statistically meaningfully differed. Second, experiment group which performed physical activities of combining basic exercise and locomotive elements was compared with controlled group which performed individually outdoor activities, and the results of social emotional development showed scores of toddler's motor ability in experimental group comparing with those in controlled group statistically meaningfully differed. It means physical activities influenced on the development of social sentiments in toddler's. The subordinate elements of social-emotional development showed, besides of motives for achievement, high quantitative interrelation in dependence on teachers, inner control, interaction with friends, a sense of stability, and curiosity. In conclusion, this study proved that physical activities influenced positively the development of motor ability and social-emotional development in toddlers. Therefore, applying actively body activities in nurseries for toddlers will be useful for improving toddler's motor Ability and social-emotional development.
