Burr is a kind of unexpected machined parts induced by mechanical machining. It makes some problems during the operation of machined products. Especially miniature parts, relative scale of burrs are bigger than general parts. Therefore deburring is important process in case of miniature parts machining. In this research micro-EDM (Electro Discharge Machining) process is engaged to deburring process. Because micro-EDM is non-contact machining process, residual stress can be neglect and weak miniature structure such as micro-wall can be deburred without damage. Therefore micro-EDM deburring process is suitable deburring process for irregular burrs on the complex, weak and miniature structure. In this paper, the thermal analysis model of micro-EDM process is developed to predict the machining depth and optimize the machining condition when the burrs are removed without surface damage. Because the material removal mechanism and the characteristic of geometry of micro-EDM deburring process differ with general micro-EDM, the different thermal analysis model has been developed for micro-EDM deburring process. After develop the thermal model, compare the model and experimental result to verification of thermal model. Using this model, the optimum machining gap which is the distance between electrode and workpiece when the burrs are removed perfectly without surface damage can be determined according to machining condition
