Zn 및 As의 내성종을 선별하기 위하여 한지형 잔디인 Perennial ryegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, Creeping bentgrass 의 3종과, 난지형 잔디인 Zoysiagrass 의 1종, 그리고 쑥의 종인 Artemisia princeps, Mugwort의 2종을 선정하여 액체 배지 내에 종자를 파종하여 15일 후 발아율을 조사한 결과, 대체로 Zn 과 As 의 노출 농도가 높아질수록 발아율이 감소하였으며, As 가 Zn 보다 식물의 발아에 더 민감한 영향을 미쳤고, Mugwort 는 100mg Zn/L 에서도 54%의 발아율을 보였고, Perennial ryegrass 는 독성이 강한 As 에서도 40mg/L 내 49%의 발아율을 보인 바, Zn 에 강한 내성종은 Mugwort 로, As 는 Perennial ryegrass로 조사되었다.

This study was carried out in order to evaluate the effects of food waste compost on heavy metals uptake of Artemisia princeps var. orientalis and Zoysiagrass in abandoned mine soil. To prepare basic data in a study of the Zn and As tolerance of plants, it was experimented that generation growth of 7 species in Zn and As concentration; Perennial ryegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, Creeping bentgrass, Zoysiagrass, Artemisia princeps, and Mugwort. The germination rate had been measured for 15 days in a petri dish where Zn and As was added. As a result the higher Zn and As concentration are the lower germination rate in the plants. Also the germination rate of Mugwort was 54% in 100mg Zn/L, and Perennial ryegrass was 49% in 40mg As/L respectively. So a species that had the strongest tolerance in Zn was Mugwort and a species that had it in As was Perennial ryegrass. Artemisia princeps and Zoysiagrass had been grown for 35 days in 225~330 mg Zn/kg, and 50~52 mg As/kg soil. Each biomass in shoot and root of Zoysiagrass was increased 86% and 49% more than that of Artemisia princeps. The concentrations of Zn and As in soils were decreased more by Zoysiagrass than Artemisia princeps. The amendment was applied to the soil with different levels of food waste compost treatment. The amounts and the concentrations of Zn and As in Zoysiagrass where 2% compost treatment was done higher than those in Zoysiagrass where other treatments were done (control, 5%, and 10% compost treatment). The growth rate of Zoysiagrass where all compost treatments were done were higher than control. Zn and As uptake capacity of Zoysiagrass where 2% compost treatment was done higher than any other treatments (control, 5%, and 10% compost treatment). Through above field application of phytoremediation with Zoysiagrass, Zn and As concentrations of soil samples were decreased, especially 2% treatment of food waste compost enhanced the Zn and As uptake capacity of the Zoysiagrass. The results suggested that application of organic materials with food waste compost to mine soil can reduce concentrations of heavy metals and be helpful in introducing successful revegetation.
